At Davos, EU vows pragmatism with Trump • FRANCE 24 English

EU chief Ursula von der Leyen declared Tuesday that Europe was ready to negotiate with US President Donald Trump but the bloc will also seek to improve ties with China and other nations as global competition heats up. Von der Leyen insisted that the United States remains an important partner, taking a conciliatory tone in a speech to the annual meeting of global elites in Davos, Switzerland.

  1. Ursula von der Leyen is a traitor to EU. She is so pro-American that she acts in the interest of USA much more than EU.

  2. The EU should approach Canada and Mexico and expand existing trade agreements without the US. If Chump wants to isolate the US, so be it.

  3. Europe must now become a super state and not 27 divided arguing old world countries. No more EU vetos, no more time wasting. its now or we die

  4. In other news that DW dares not broadcast: Trump has paused all foreign aid including to Ukraine for 90 days for review. This means most of the civil service and military in Ukraine will be unpaid for 90 days while Russia pushes forward in all directions… 🥴😂

  5. How did the WEF clowns proceed with this meeting without the master Chef, Trump? He will impose sanctions on the EU for insubordination.🤣🤣🤣🤣

  6. Tariff wars. Consequences. As a result, US economic growth will slow down, and price increases will accelerate, the Congressional Budget Office assessed the consequences of Trump's tariffs in response to a request from the Senate Speaker and the heads of the budget and finance committees.
Rising prices will force the US central bank to reconsider the pace of reducing lending rates in order to combat inflation, which threatens an even greater slowdown in the economy, a reduction in budget and population revenues, and an increase in the deficit and debt.
All this contradicts the stated goals of Trump's economic reforms.

  7. Ursula’s goose is cooked. Being “pragmatic” means giving up EU principles…😂…if there is such a thing? Where were your principles when genocide happens?……crickets chirping 🤔

  8. Who cares. European economy is tanking fast and their energy reliance on outsiders is killed them. Just let them rot in their weed induced dream of green energy and DEI garbage.

  9. Now USA not going to have trillion dollar to put climate change. Are the rest of Europe and western world and 500 million wto.. are they going to put the short fall in because it so important

  10. Without the US's help, the EU would have become an easy target for Russia and China. US under Marco Rubio is focusing its support on Latin America and Indo-Pacific Region as Japan & South Korea. The US will protect Taiwan and the Philippines at all costs. That is what Marco Rubio told the Senate Hearing about his confirmation.

  11. The Shame of America. What do Russia, Brazil and America have in common? The three rulers of these countries live with their elderly caregivers. Children abandon their elderly parents, and when the elderly person leaves everything to the elderly caregiver, they say they are being robbed. In America it is worse, the elderly caregiver is an immigrant.

  12. 🤣🤣🤣 EU = barren lands with no resources, only coal. Genocidal colonizers have no colonies left to plunder & prop-up their societies, instead they have been colonized by the US. How long before they go back to fighting each other?

  13. Europe is on the verge of bankruptcy it is filled with debt, it has no innovation, unemployment is at its max and no one wants to even work. All they want is money from the government. China is in the cutting edge of AI technology, it has billions of people who work like dogs, their education is top notch. If this were strictly a business decision, hands 🙌 down I would do away with Europe and partner with China and Russia. Russia simply for geopolitical power and China for business and innovation. I would not be enemies with Europe I just would have no need to trade with them. I have to say besides visiting old castle relics and eating pizza, Europe is relatively useless.

  14. And never ceases to amaze how stupid liberals can be. Europe is lost to multiculturalism, liberalism, feminism, inclusivity equity inclusion. Weak men make bad times strong men make good times it seems like even the men in Europe are feminist. I don’t mean to be disrespectful to all Europeans. It’s just that if there are strong men there who appreciate their own culture their own country, they don’t speak up enough obviously

  15. That’s why Ursula is a failure. Nimble. Obtuse. Ruining Europe. Trump is going to make her pay 5% and EU is deserving every bit of that charge

  16. To EU: this is a time of great concern. It's a time that EU has to think smarter in regard of allianses, technology, manufacturing and armed forces investments. The top agenda must be how to strengthen the economy in EU, both internally and by allianses outside of the ordinary.
In addition EU needs to invest in setting up social media channels and secure communications to ensure that likeminded people all over the world can communicate freely and share their thoughts without being afraid of their own government.

  17. Apparently Europe treats the US badly? But where are the European Facebook/Twitter/Instagram…Why do we have KFC/McDonald's/Burger king in practically every town in Europe? How many people in Europe have even heard of European search engines like #Mojeek ? All people know is Google and Bing! What more do Americans want? Will our kidneys do? You know, the US relies on stripping away European Startups and innovation, even Google deep mind originated in the UK. America gets to asset strip Europe in return for giving it "protection" US/Europe relations are akin to a mobster and a small business owner! Europe badly needs to implement the same kind of hostile protectionism towards the US as the US does to Europe, and the first steps towards that are working on collective European military strength and expelling US forces from Europe, and securing its own supply chains
