  1. Not shocked to see some states lagging behind in job opportunities. They just don’t have the industries for it.

  2. So, basically the states with the most federally funded military programs?

  3. This may be the worst data analytics provided to prove the data vs map. May be true, but really not a lot of concrete analytics to back the title.

  4. Project management wants to be taken seriously as a profession but it’s not. For every person actually running a project there are 20 people with project manager titles that set up zoom calls and send out weekly reports.

  6. Wow, didn’t realize how bad the job market is in some states for project management. Definitely makes me think twice about where to move.

  7. I knew NY would be here! We love big old long waterfall style projects.

  8. Well, it’s clear this was put together by a project manager and not an analyst. Because from an analysis perspective its sub par.

But its pretty on message for project managers who typically only care about delivering projects, not delivering good or accurate projects.

I had a PM once tell me “My incentive plan says to launch by X date. It does not say to launch it better than the one it replaces. The date is the only critical deliverable.”

  9. I think the best states here are obvious but a lot of it depends on what kind of PM work you’re after.

  10. How are PMs defined? What fields?

Furthermore, what defines “best” there is mention of salary, density, employment numbers, but no formula no showing if weighting. Is salary corrected for standard of living? PMs in pharma can get paid upwards of 100k in Boston and 90k in NC and I can tell you there is a significant difference in QoL due to SoLs.

  11. Great tool for anyone thinking about relocating for better opportunities.
