  5. It must be noted that most of the councils close to bankruptcy are liebour run. Also it convenient for them to mention this rise will come into force just before local elections should take place. Which have very conveniently been suspended. Meaning they can up the cost of council tax with impunity.
    So much for liebour being for the working class struggling to feed there family never mind pay for service that lines the pockets of liebour councillors.

  6. We need drastic efficiency measures and large-scale automation followed by gutting public sector admin roles.

    The lack of automation and extreme bureaucracy in LA’s is why these bills are so high. I would be happy to pay higher taxes if it went to front line services, but the reality is, it doesn’t pay for more bin men or social workers. It goes to Joe Bloggs and Jane Doe sat in a cushty admin roll paying 35k with a 30% pension contribution who works from home and does about 1hr of ‘productive’ work a day.

    It has to end at some point

  8. Have they forgotten the pole tax riots? I would suspect a similar reaction if they tried raising council tax to five times what’s being paid now!
