They brought this up on QI once, apparently the logic is that the tea will heat you up even more, and hydrate you promoting sweating. The sweating will therefore cool you and even though your actual external temperature won’t change much it’ll feel cooler.
Not sure how much I believe it, but apparently that’s the rationale.
The color of the tea is not right. Needs a bit more brewing..
