> Striking an unusually tender note, Tarantino continued: “The idea of jumping on a voyage when they’re too young to understand it is not enticing to me. I kind of want to not do whatever movie I end up doing until my son is at least 6. That way he’ll know whats’ going on, he’ll be there, and it will be a memory for the rest of his life.”
It’s actually not a bad idea if the idea is to have his kid get to witness him making a movie. I don’t have any memories really before being 6 so waiting until his child is that old at least is sweet.
All that being said it’s been 6 years since Once Upon a Time in Hollywood – a movie that has aged like fine wine since it came out and despite me not loving it initially I now find it absurdly re-watchable and entertaining. I hope we don’t have to wait too many years for another QT film because nobody else makes movies like him.
I don’t know why anyone would put an arbitrary number to stop directing when they clearly have a passion for it and want to continue directing.
Honestly I don’t think there is any universe where Tarantino sticks to the ten movie limit he set himself. He is either gonna direct the tenth and then get the desire to make another or he spends so long looking for the perfect movie to be his final one that he never actually makes it.
TIL: someone slept with Quentin Tarantino.
Why is he so stuck on this idea? His premise isn’t even remotely true.
Creative people get haunted by their ideas, gnaws at them. I predict there’ll eventually be an eleventh movie.
Tell Quentin I’ve raised 3 sons to adulthood and will babysit for free (on set if need be) if that will get him back on to a movie set. C’mon Quentin I ain’t got forever!
Really wants his kid to have lifelong memories of a lotta Hard Rs and feet shit. Interesting.
If he made music, he would’ve put out his “last album” several times over already.
Love the man but 61 and has a young child? Yikes.
I did not expect that dig at Deadline
Mark my words, he’s gonna be like Stephen king, “alright, I’m done… (twitchtwitch)… okay just ten more”.
I had no idea he had a son.
I think stopping film making to spend all the time you have left on the planet with your kid is a good idea, and so is experiencing film making with him. But he decided to have kids in his mid 50s.
Personally, I’d do the last film and spend retirement with my children.
Someone should tell him 12 is also a really nice round number.
Should a kid be on his sets? Doesn’t seem age appropriate.
That’s actually really sweet.
cools. i’m in no hurry to see it.
He is lost without Weinstein
Cute he is waiting to hand the reigns to his nepobaby.
Great now we have to wait. This is torture. Babe Ruth’s last at bat.
Just keep making more movies Quentin. You’re only 61. A lot of veteran directors make films into their 80’s now.
Quentin….you don’t gotta do “a final movie” if you don’t want to lol
Son? He got a toe pregnant?
How old is his son?
His arbitrary “I’m only doing 10 movies” rule is so dumb. The guy is just as full of himself as his buddy Bill Maher
He gets 10 movies for each farewell tour as well.
Imagine the box office numbers on the 11th one. There will be am 11th and final one. Etc
making enough cash on snarky videos
Tarantino’s always been about making films that leave a lasting impact, so it makes sense that he’d want his final movie to be something he can share with his son and have those memories to look back on.
