The king touched down in the Wee County during his visit to The Gate Charity on Thursday, January 16.

Alongside hearing of the work the foodbank do for the area, King Charles also got to meet various charities and good causes from around Clacks.

Among those in attendance was the Clacks branch of Girlguiding Scotland, who had been invited to line up on the street outside.

Following his exit from The Gate’s headquarters on Ludgate, the king made his way down the queue of people waiting to greet him.

Representing the Girlguiding group included Tricia Davenport, division commander for Clacks, acting district commander Gemma Waghorn, Aileen Graham, division commander for Dollar and Muckhart, and Joyce Bell from the Hillfoots region.

Tricia said: “It was great to be part of such a lovely event with volunteers from different organisations.

“The king asked us whether we had enough volunteers for the number of members we have. He seemed genuinely interested and thanked us for coming along.”

Gemma added: “A wonderful experience meeting King Charles III, a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“A lovely feeling knowing that he understands the hard work we do as volunteers in Girlguiding.”
