  1. This is great! I’m unable to visualize weights and measurements. I had to look up 6kg once, it’s the weight of an adult koala bear.

  2. I know they say Americans will use anything but metric for measurements, but this is a really good everyday unit of weight for a British person!

  3. “This is roughly the weight of a large cod* & chips, medium curry sauce and a can of Vimto*”.

*substitute for haddock and Irn Bru in Scotland

  4. I’ve always thought about weight by volume of water. A litre of water is almost exactly 1kg.

  5. Americans: it’s about 3 football fields long
Brits: it’s about 3 full kettles heavy

  6. So, one Yorkshire Tea bag, 3 custard creams and a kettle with enough water for one mug should be fine. Repeat after every 2hours for maximum benefit 😎😎😎

  7. They recognise that lifting the kettle is an absolute necessity for us 👍

  8. That’s a measurement I can understand without having to think about it. On another note, I have set as my goal for 2025 to do deadlifts with a Sports Direct mug.

  9. My son had surgery on his shoulder and was told he “should only lift the weight of a cup of tea” for 6 weeks.

  10. Nah this is the NHS quite clearly telling you to sit back and let your family make you a cup of tea after an operation.

  11. After you have c-section surgery, you’re told not to lift anything heavier than your baby. In case you weren’t aware, babies weigh between one and two kettles.

  12. This is exactly what the doctor told me 😂 “don’t lift anything heavier than a kettle”

  13. LMAO in America the usual lifting restriction is 8 lbs or a gallon of milk.

  14. thats the most british way to describe weight i have ever seen lol

  15. that’s actually a medical exemption certificate from making tea for your housemates

  16. Why use KG though in the first place? No one knows what a KG is. Bag of sugar? No problem. A stone? No problem. Half a stone? No problem. 8lbs 6 oz – got ya.

  17. Love this – We all know how heavy a full kettle is

  18. Ok so Americans use bananas for scales, Brits use tea kettles for weight scale.
