Do these actually make a difference? Surely the kind of person who carries around a machete isn’t going to see a box and think “oh you know what, I’ll get rid of it.”
It’s a lovely idea, but does anyone honestly think this will work? (A) people may well drop knives in there but it’ll be after actually doing stabbings and (b) the branding is like something out of a Mitchell and Webb BBC Bitesize spoof (‘Get a life, Bin that knife’, seriously?).
Something desperately needs to be done to get knives off our streets and the kids who use them back on the right track, but I don’t think these blue boxes are it.

im just thinking that even if you have some epiphany, and decide skenging people up for fun is bad, you just stick that knife in the kitchen drawer and use it for its intended purpose, rather than chucking it away.
