  3. The lawsuits alone will cost taxpayers billions. Not to mention all these ppl tied up with BS for years, unable to perform their work. It’s like when they furlough ppl, then end up paying them anyway. How Fn stupid

  10. How does the Executive Branch cut appropriations that were previously authorized by Congress? This would include DEI stuff in addition to other appropriations? What laws are in play here?

  11. This is a test to see what states are going to stop funding and who is going to sue. The only way this is going to have a backlash big enough to mean anything is ALL states sue. If the southern states don’t then they are will to listen to a president and not congress

  14. Like most authoritarian power grabs it will only succeed if people stay silent, follow orders and allow it to happen. Trump freezing congressionally approved funding is illegal and in violation of the Impoundment Control Act of 1974.

    I suggest that all federal employees refuse to cooperate with trump, continue to distribute federal funding if possible and push back on all suggestions by colleges and supervisors to comply with the trump regime and act as if nothing has changed at all.

    Democrats in the house and senate need to speak out against this illegal and authoritarian power grab on social media sites like bluesky, reddit, twitter, facebook ect and independent media organizations like Mediastouch, David Pakaman ect. The Democrats cannot rely on the legacy, mainstream media to report the truth since they’re already co-operating in advance by sanewashing and downplaying Trump’s actions

    I say this because kicking up a stink about it in the mainstream and independent media and social media along with forcing trump to appeal from the lower courts all the way up to the Supreme Court to overturn the Impoundment Control Act of 1974 will hopefully buy pro democracy forces enough time to mobilize public outrage against this blatant authoritarian power grab.

    If anything, we should gather a shitload of information about the democratic party’s allegiance by the way they handle the next 3.9 years. The time for tiptoe diplomacy is looooong fucking gone: we are straight up in a fight for democracy. Will the real PATRIOTS please stand up!!!!!

    Trump created a national disaster. The Democrats *cannot* bail Red States out of this. They will never get the recognition for it.

    There’s no one to stop this. No one. Nobody is coming to our rescue. The Democrats in Congress have no power whatsoever. They can’t stop a single bill from passing. They can’t impeach, they can’t subpoena, they can’t do anything. Good for them for having an emergency meeting. Big woo. Major kudos. It means absolutely nothing.

    The federal courts have no enforcement mechanism. Every last law enforcement officer they could send, all the US Marshals, are employed by the Department of Justice.

    We are HOURS away from the first time the Trump administration receives an order from a federal court blocking a decision they have made and saying “Make us.”

    That’s it. That’s the game over moment. That’s when we don’t have a country anymore. And it’s going to be here before Valentine’s Day.
