The gleeful selfishness and cruelty of the home office is, as always, impressive.
I guess it’s true – post-Brexit Britain is more willing and more able to have its own policies (though it was of course tun by a pack of cunts while in the EU, too).
As global warming kicks in and less of the world is habitable then they will want to come here as well as wars. Unfortunately we have to draw a line somewhere and I think Brexit was that line. Look after our own first and foremost.
It’s strange that the UK doesn’t realize that Putin has been at war with the west for 8 years and that the UK was the site of one of his larger victories in 2016.
The only thing worse than losing a propaganda war, is not even realizing that it happened.
‘France criticizes Britain’s delays’ is just playing to the (racist) home audience. There’s an election coming up.
A reminder of how Schengen countries responded to the 2015 mass migration:
If we are willing to send NLAWs to Ukraine etc then this war is our war. Take some responsibility for the fallout. We are by no means a neutral country that can suddenly start playing the victim or complaining about immigrants, you can’t have your cake and eat it too.
If we were a country practicing splendid isolation as they say, then fair enough I can understand. But we are not. So this is our responsibility to do the right thing.

It’s ok, the Home Office has found [time to approve fifty whole applications](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/ukraine-refugees-priti-patel-visas-b2029731.html?amp), and [reject 150 Ukrainians in France trying to get the Eurostar](https://inews.co.uk/news/france-accuses-uk-lack-humanity-150-ukrainian-refugees-calais-denied-entry-uk-1500972/amp) and took time last week to reaffirm that it will consider anyone who travelled through the EU to the UK to be ineligible for asylum. Good for Irish and French refugees who are good at swimming I guess?
Meanwhile, in [the EU they’re actually processing asylum cases](https://www.unhcr.org/news/press/2022/3/6221f1c84/news-comment-unhcr-welcomes-eu-decision-offer-temporary-protection-refugees.html) and [giving out three year work visas to any Ukrainian citizen who needs them](https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2022/mar/02/ukraine-refugees-right-to-live-in-eu-plan).
