He added that he had also spoken to “a coalition representative he knows, who confirmed that the big river was still coming”. Tavars said that this would be a continuation of the Rail Baltica and airBaltic disasters.
Tavars said, “The big problem at the moment is the government’s inability to work together competently, to set a common agenda, to put aside the problematic issues and deal with the acute problems.”
He stressed that problems are growing day by day and we cannot afford to postpone them to the next Saeima. According to Tavares, the government is unable to cope with elementary matters.
Tavars criticized Prime Minister Evika Siliņa (New Unity), who should lead the team and replace those members who are unable to perform their tasks successfully. The politician listed the ministries where he sees problems: the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Climate and Energy, the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development, the Ministry of Defense.
Jānis Vitenbergs of the opposition National Alliance also criticized Siliņa’s work and the government in an interview on Latvian Television’s “Morning Panorama”, saying it would fall. According to him, it is only a matter of time.
