Can we skip to the part where we have a direct democracy app please
So have the Green Party and Soc Dems. Of course they would do that cause it won’t impact votes
They are completely shameless. How anyone can believe their position won’t just change with the wind at this point is beyond me. Their entire strategy as the most effective opposition in history™ has been to offer no opinion on anything (other than we should give away free money at every turn), wait until they see what the prevailing opinion is, and pretend that is their position. Their position will even change on the same topic depending on what they want to achieve, e.g. Mary-Lou thinks we should open all the pubs vs the entire party are outraged at rising case numbers.
They are not adults. I absolutely dread the prospect of them being in charge of this country during a crisis, any of Brexit, Covid or dealing with the impacts of this war would be a shambles.
You’d think they could come out and say Mea Culpa, our soft support of authoritarian regimes is embarrassing but we’ve changed our mind – but no, they’d much rather pull this stunt and hope their voters are too stupid to notice or care.
Latest opinion poll I saw today has the current govt on 51%. SF can’t get in with those sorts of numbers.
Dodgey fecks.
The Independent, of course it’s the independent.
I see they still have the page up where they use the party’s original name “Provisional Sinn Fein”. It was required when the party was founded in order to differentiate them from the existing Sinn Fein party. http://www.sinnfein.org/index2.html
SF continues to do what it has done for the last 30 years. Don’t worry folks, at some point SF will drastically change its position on something you thought was a principled core policy, it’s happens to everyone the older you get. Just don’t take it personally.
Trying to hide something I guess.
All political parties “adjust” their views, regardless of the topic and time.
That said, I don’t know why it’s not easier to address it outright.
Bit clueless but why is this a big deal?
What hiding though ?
Seems they are all at it now.
Honesty and transparency is the key it will set us free.
I fuck up a lot. **shrug**
If this is supposed to make me suspicious of SF I literally couldn’t care less. I don’t have the luxury of living in the past like the people who try and convince everyone to be afraid of voting SF instead of FF/FG.
Edit.
If you’re downvoting go ahead and give your own opinion. Change my mind if you think you can.
I wonder if other parties around in Europe is doing it as well?
On both sides of the political spectrum, parties have been pro Russian for years.
This smacks of the populist hunting agenda.
SF Realised that while some people would like a united Ireland, these same people wont suffer the whims of Dictators like Putin and his regime.
I call Sinn Fein the flipy floppy party these days. If they get into government I genuinely don’t think they’ll have a clue what to do.
Authoritarian regimes do a lot of history wiping too. It’s not generally generally a trait of trustworthiness. Efforts at shitewashing an organisation’s record, like this, are facile and utterly dishonest. Children wouldn’t be fooled by what is effectively gaslighting, as Sinn Fein will in future try to deny post and statements that were originally easily visible to anyone who wanted to read them.
Interestingly, I mishit the ‘s’ instead of the intended ‘w’ for ‘whitewashing’ but I’m letting it stand for obvious reasons.
Total hitpiece, bringing up shit from 20 years ago.
Keep voting for FF/FG and expecting different results. Nobody can afford housing and the crisis is getting worse by the day.
Former SF member here. I am younger than Mary Lou who wasn’t around when it wasn’t glamorous and it was pretty hard being a SF member. I remember she was in a wet week and she was being groomed for stardom and elections at the same time she and others were “reserving for Ard Chomhairle” disregarding votes taken by the membership the leadership didn’t like. Under her reign there has been an upsurge in careerist opportunists in their ranks who just like to virtue signal and changed it into a terrible extreme feminist virtue signalling cultural Marxist cabal.

Oh
They’re a joke. Like the rest of them. It is way more apparent these days though.
Archive.org – nothing is deleted, ever.
I’m quite relieved to see them moving away from the Russians.
I despise them, but they’re going to be in government so it’s good to see them behaving a little bit responsibly
Just trying to cover their tracks now they have figured out which way the wind is blowing with the electorate – https://www.irishexaminer.com/opinion/columnists/arid-40818876.html
