Been here 5 days now and I don't see why it gets a lot of hate, So far the town is great. Places only taking cash is a but annoying tho.

  3. Have you met the guy with the pumping house music who sits in his wheelchair opposite the pub yet? If you haven’t, it’s a legal requirement to become his best mate within six weeks of moving in 🙂

  4. Good for you! Are you going to learn Welsh? / Wyt ti’n mynd I ddysgu Cymraeg? I imagine it’s a big change from Essex but sometimes in life the big changes are what we need!

  6. I quite liked Blaenau Ffestiniog when we visited there – would like to have spent a bit more time hiking around, but in the end we had to press on to Bala and Llyn Celyn ( Tryweryn ) and back south.

    I’m reminded of a Max Boyce joke given the amount of slate quarrying…. when S4C was launched in 1982, the people of Blaenau were terrified when they turned on their TVs….it was the first time they’d seen colour

  7. I woke up in a loft room in Bleaenau many years ago (was my mates sisters house) and I swear that (pic 3) was the exact view from the window. Must have been close!

  8. Make sure to learn cymraeg. Especially in Blaenau. You will integrate much better trust me. Did it when I moved to Caernarfon and it opens up a whole new community you wouldn’t have realised existed

  11. Welcome! I moved away from Blaenau in 2006 but moved back with my partner a couple months back!
