Sometimes it really makes you think that we haven’t really gone much further than cavemen after all. Still the strong will take whatever they can whenever they want it. And sometimes even working together is not enough to resist injustice. Talk about development of humans and their intelligence.
What a vague situation.
> Greenland, a self-ruling Danish territory, voted in a referendum to leave the European Communities, a precursor to the EU, in 1982 and formally left the bloc in 1985 — though most of its roughly 60,000 citizens are Danish and therefore still EU citizens.
I’m going to speculate it’s First Nations people who don’t count as Danish citizens? Regardless, I’m not understanding the relevance.
Current situation: Threats to Danish EU citizens living in an autonomous territory of Denmark, an EU nation.
Proposed change to: Threats to Greenland/Danish EU citizens living in an autonomous territory of Denmark, with both Denmark and this territory being EU members.
Isn’t common fishery policy the big sticking point for Greenland?
that’d be so funny if the senile old fool in charge of the US ends up being the catalyst that make Greenland join the EU
The decision for Greenland to join any political union, or remain independent, should solely be for the Government and the citizens of Greenland to decide democratically in a referendum – and to be accorded full rights and statehood, as well as sovereignty within that Union.
Likewise, if they choose to leave, that’s their choice as well – it’s Greenlands sovereignty after all.
They should not bow down to threats from external sources.
Finally, if Greenland decides to apply to join, that decision needs to be ratified on the other side as well – it’s not up to any one person.

Can the orange man just stop
or all european nations could just aggree to protect all european members territory. which should have been a default part of europes partneships.
europe urgently needs a defence pact. if trumps attacks one european nation he would be attacking all 27. followed by a comple break away in all trade whilst we railroad europe to china and just buy direct as everything is made in china.
I’m American and I didn’t know this until my cousin who’s currently serving told me. He says him and his buddies would love to be the ones to deploy there and that no one would stop them if they showed up.
Yes, the EU needs to be prepared for once Greenland gets independence from Denmark to offer them a place in the Union. We can’t take the risk of allienating Greenlanders by telling them if they want to be in the EU they have to be Danish
That means Greenland as an independent nation and member of the EU would be obligated to use the euro while Denmark continues to use Danish Kroner.
I’m still confused over the legal status of Greenland.
Greenland needs to understand that being a colony of Denmark is all they will ever be.
Immediately.
China is on a rampage, Russia is attacking Ukraine so why not focus of the land of your most powerful ally (EU). Sure.
It’s nonsense that Greenland should be part of the EU for protection etc. Greenland is part of the Danish territories and since Denmark is part of the EU they should be protected by the EU,Denmark was a founding member of the EU and has been a member ever since.
The EU has also stated that they will support and help Denmark protect Greenland.
❤️🇩🇰
They could also join Canada as a native governed territory like Nunavut – just across Baffin Bay.
Honestly, that makes more sense than joining the EU.
If Greenland wants protection then the USA is the obvious choice. The EU can’t even protect their own backyard.
Remember that Trump is a convicted felon and sexual assaulter. So replace all references to Greenland with “your pussy” and it suddenly makes sense how desperately he wants something he’s told he can’t have.

There’s still a US military base in Greenland, . https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pituffik_Space_Base
