  1. I can’t cry any more either. It’s so hard. Trying to help anyone who needs help. As a mother two small kids I can’t imagine fleeing my home with one bag.

  2. People arriving will need support. Getting them in to housing is great but the local communities are going to need to rally around them also.

Shopping – nothing is going to look familiar. Accompanying a displaced person to the shops to help them find things can really help. You can use a translation app to help. Depending on the supports provided by the government they may also not have much money.

Clothing – now is a great time to clear out any clothes you are not wearing. People have had to leave their entire life behind and grab what they can carry.

Housing – yes it will be inconvenient and cost you some money in extra bills but if you have space for someone please offer to take them in. Even it is only for a few days.

  3. I know this article is written this way partially to shame the UK government into action, but the way it describes the actions of our government and agencies on this make me feel proud to be Irish.

Now, if we could only solve the housing situation and make some meaningful action on climate change, we’d be sucking diesel (not literally)
