According to the university, the fire is under control.
ARLINGTON, Texas — Students and faculty at The University of Texas at Arlington campus were forced to evacuate the Continuing Education building Thursday due to a fire in a natural gas well site, the university said.
According to a post on UTA’s X account, people were asked to evacuate the building, located at 140 W. Mitchell St., just before 4:45 p.m. as the fire was near the building.
About six minutes after the initial post, UTA posted again, this time saying the fire in the natural gas well site was under control. However, everyone was asked to remain out of the surrounding area until further notice.
Details on the cause of the fire and the scale of it were not immediately clear.
