LEXINGTON, Ky. (WYMT) – The Kentucky Wildcats began the toughest stretch of the regular season on Thursday, Jan. 30 as six of the Cats’ remaining nine games will be against top-25 ranked teams.
The first of the slate was No. 22 Alabama.
The Crimson Tide broke out an early lead and led at the end of the first quarter, 21-15.
Halfway through the second quarter, Alabama shot 40% from three and 50% from the field.
However, UK made a second-quarter surge with a 12-0 run that regained a four-point halftime lead at the break.
The Cats ended the third quarter on a 6-0 run to take a double-digit lead.
Ultimately, UK defeated Alabama, 65-56.
This ties the program’s best 20-game start to a season at 18-2 overall.
Georgia Amoore dished out nine assists, which eclipsed the 800th mark for her career. She also scored 16 points.
Amoore was one of four Wildcats that scored in double figures.
Coming up next, No. 12 Kentucky will travel to face No. 13 Oklahoma for a top-15 matchup on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
