Shaun Hamilton led all scorers with 18 points as 29th-seeded Weequahic defeated 36th-seeded Technology, 70-38, in the preliminary round of the Essex County Invitational Tournament in Newark.
James Porter scored 12 points for Weequahic (10-8), which jumped out to a 14-5 first quarter lead. Riyahd McDonald and Tasir Barnes added 10 points apiece.
Weequahic will play 13th-seeded Newark East Side in the first round on Saturday.
Joshua Pitman scored 10 points for Technology (5-12).
