I also feel like Canada could hit us back and put export tariffs on oil if we start fucking with them.
Main reason US does not drill baby drill is basic economics of supply and demand. Why would US oil companies developed more sites when they already have enough. It cost them hundreds of millions and would over supply the market and drive down prices..Trump is too dumb to understand this meanwhile green energy employs hundred of thousand of american workers and the idiot wants to cut funding for it.
You need to look no further than Russia to see how a despotic ruler can use spiraling inflation/economic hardship and play up any counter
-tariffs/sanctions to rally the base into a a frenzy of “the globalists are trying to end our American way of life” and use it to further entrench their hold.
MMW, this is how this playbook plays out.
Perfect 👍
High gas prices are what will hurt Trump the most. It is the most rage inducing point in the US.
I don’t understand what the political strategy is, if there is one. There are few things as politically toxic as high gas prices. This is little to be gained for his presidency here. Theoretically, it could compel US refineries to make the switch to domestic light sweet crude, but I can’t imagine the benefits of that would reach consumers before the end of his term.
I’m actually in favor of tariffs on Canadian crude – or tar sands, as we should call it – because the environmental impacts are worse than our domestic crude, even after accounting for impacts of fracking. Plus the political and social effects – just do a little reading on the aboriginal lands and the Canadian oil industry.
Anyway, who knows what President Spray Tan is up to, but it doesn’t make a lot of sense.
Not a surprise.
This isn’t really a let’s think things through first kind of group.
I like how they act like a 20 cent jump overnight is unheard of. We see 40-50 cent jumps all the time. We won’t even notice if it is just 20 cents. That being said, Trump is a fucking idiot.
At what point does MAGA remember that they spent 2021 screaming at Biden to “Turn the pipeline back on”?
Trump can’t turn the Keystone XL back on because it was never built in the first place.
