FRANKFORT, Ky. (WYMT) – Sen. Brandon Smith (R-Hazard) was reappointed to serve on the Energy and Environment Committee of The Council of State Governments Southern Office (CSG South).
Smith will continue to collaborate with policymakers throughout the 15-member southern states to address energy policy, environmental sustainability, and regulatory challenges impacting the region.
“It is an honor to be reappointed to this committee and to work alongside fellow legislators on critical energy and environmental issues,” said Smith. “Kentucky plays a significant role in the southern energy sector, and with a new presidential administration, we can do even more. I look forward to continuing to engage in meaningful discussions that promote reliable energy production, a sustainable grid and lower costs for consumers while ensuring economic stability for our region.”
CSG was founded in 1947.
It is the largest of four regional offices under The Council of State Governments, dedicated to fostering intergovernmental cooperation among southern states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
