  1. >“achieving a ceasefire and lasting peace is possible within months, not years.”

It will only create a “lasting peace” if Russia doesn’t get to keep what it stole. Rewarding Russia encourages wars.

  2. It won’t end because of Trump, it will end because the Russian economy is failing and they are running out of weapons and manpower.

  3. Ending the war in the fastest way possible regardless of terms is in itself very much NOT in the interest of the entire world. It has to end on terms that makes new russian aggression impossible and defending Ukraine’s sovereignty, recognized borders, right to decide about it’s own politics, country.

A peace deal that forces Ukraine to not join Nato, EU, cede territory to an aggressor will set a precedent to the whole world that invading other countries pays off, and that borders, countries, democracies and the will of their people does not need to be respected.

Forcing the Putin-regime into accepting a disastrous deal and having the worlds nations uniting against the use of violence against sovereign countries – will lessen the risk of other military powers, fascist regimes to try the same thing and larp imperial conquest – such as for example China.

It has to cost so, so much more than what an aggressing nation could ever gain starting a war – to have these fascists rethink their choices.

  4. *According to him, to achieve this, Trump “will create leverage for both Kyiv and Moscow” because “the president knows where and how to apply pressure.”*

Yeah*.* I highly suspect that the suspension of humanitarian aid is part of the pressure on UA – and on the EU. It was my initial thought when I read that news, and nothing that I have heard since is altering my perception: in russia, it’s putin that matters. In UA, it’s the people.

  5. He’s not wrong: It **may** end in months… or it **may** end in years.

  6. Theres no prospect of a quick peace. Neither Ukraine nor Russia have even begun to talk about that as a serious idea, let alone get in a room.

  7. Actually No! Russia loosing and Ukraine recovering it entire sovereign borders is great in the world’s interest

  8. If Putin can’t respect 1991, 2015, 2016 borders he won’t respect 2025 borders

  9. It may end in Months the same way it ended on day 1 of Trumps new Presidency.

It will not end unless the US and Europe finally take their gloves up and enable the Ukrainians to win.

  10. russia is out of everything, in half a year they will collapse. At this point, trump is pure russian asset.

  11. No, ending the occupation of Ukraine as soon as possible is in the interest of the entire world, including the US.

There is no benefit to the USA for Ukraine to cede the Russian-occupied territory. Supporting Ukraine’s defense costs the USA barely anything. It is a commitment we Americans gladly undertake and which we can sustain for however long Ukraine needs us to.

Same for all of Ukraine’s friends and allies around the world, from Argentina to Morocco to Poland to Japan.

And sustaining their own defense is something that Ukraine also appears capable of for however long is needed.

There is only one country involved in this affair who is desperately in a hurry to freeze the conflict by any means possible. That is Russia.

So when anyone — anywhere in the world — says they are eager to freeze the conflict by any means possible, that’s whom they are speaking for.

  12. Pieces of paper will not stop Russia.

Think about WW2. Hitler did not give in until people were at his door. But more than that, we carved up Germany into pieces, stamped on it, and made it literally helpless.

Perhaps Trump’s puppeteers DO have a way to end the war quickly. They just conveniently didn’t allow it while Biden was in power. And this end to the war will doubtless be a manner to benefit not Europe, not the US, but them, personally.

But we have already been told that the war will end within the year – last year, and the year before that.

  13. Can’t have a war in Ukraine if the front lines have moved to Poland (taps forehead).

  14. The whole world is going backwards to the shit.

  15. I don’t think ASAP is in the interests of Ukraine.

  16. Achieving a ceasefire and achieving lasting peace are two different things ..

  17. Russia gets to keep all the land they had prior to 2014 invasion of Crimea.

  18. Ukraine will get their territory back in exchange for russia getting the entire US. Then, in a couple of years…

  19. Just a pick a number out of your ass, Trump administration.

  20. Trump can’t have Russia collapsing and losing.

A ceasefire is therefore a must as soon as possible.

  21. Earlier: Trump will end the war within 24h before his inauguration

Later: Trump *may* end the war within months

  22. I think it got it: He will be removed from his position in few months, after Trump will put an extra blame on him. He’s ready for it.

  23. Russia would need to cede the land bridge to Crimea and all of Zaporizhzia they currently occupy. They won’t do it and that’ll stop any peace deal.
