Why this? Just for passage purposes? Or there is some other explanation?
I am from Portugal, working in Poland. All this is new to me.

  1. Isn’t this for animal to be able to move? 😀 dunno, just guessing

  2. To accommodate for thermal expansion.
    Passage for people/cars/maintenance, too.

  3. The metal “works” or change shape becouse wearher (heat, humidity and so on) by doing this you can neglect this efect. It might be vertical becous of limited space allowed for pipes or to give acces to othe side of pipline for a lot doferent reasons

  4. My first thought was semi-water tower but animal passage seems more likely

  5. Steel pipes are changing their lenght in difffernet temperatures. This is a zone that ‘works’ during the changes.

  6. Metal pipes shrink and expand in responses to changes in temperature. This feature accommodates the movement without damaging the pipe. You might also use this across a zone of possible movement like an earthquake fault. But I don’t think Poland has active fault zones, is that right?

Edit: I think animal crossing is the right answer for this one.

  7. Because of expansion. If pipe would expand or shrink even few centimeters it would tear itself. But when there’s U bend, it will bend a little, witch is safe.

  8. Materials expand when heated up and shrink when cooled down. That why you had(nowadays there are technics to avoid them) gaps in train tracks. 2000 meters long pipe in 0 degrees can become 2002 meters long in 20 degrees and 1998m in -20 degrees. As gas pipes dont work well with 2 meter long gaps in them, you put a bend like this every so often, so shrinkage/elongation just bends them here, instead of ripping them apart.

  9. few reasons;
break the current to reduce sedimentation

    slow the flow.

but those could be done with horizontal loops, here you have additional crossing for animals and (meintenance) vehicles

  10. probably marked as an entrance to a property/plot so the pipes have to go around it

  11. It’s called an expansion loop, the reason for it is thermal expansion of the pipe. More details @Google.

  12. Steam line expansion joint. This is done all over the world not just Poland. Could also be used for other gaseous/liquid states. It’s called coefficient of thermal expansion.

  13. Someone lifted it to pass through and forgot to lay it back

  14. Why do I instantly recognize this pipe. Łabędy Gliwice. Probably so animals can go out of the woods but idk

  15. After school all kids used to go back home walking and sometimes even running on these pipes. Sometimes falling from quite high on the ground. Such conducts were made so the kids could give up walking on such pipes before it’s too late, alternatively, for real daredevils, to climb up there.

Thermal expansion joint is a boring explaination too.

  16. Its for expansion thats why it looks like omega bratovski

  17. it’s a gateway to another world, only chosen one will be able to open it

  18. 1. A pipe carrying liquid/gas/hot water.

    2. In the event of a failure, it can be repaired quickly because it has good access.

    3. It does not deteriorate in the ground.

    4. It has good thermal insulation

    5. A pigeon/dog/tramp can get warm from it…

    6. Its strange arrangement indicates that in the event of a fire, you can quickly drive to the other side/pavement/park entrance.

    What don’t you understand? 😀

  19. There was a cow standing there when they were building the thing

  20. In Stalker 2 you can usually find stash in places like this

  21. It’s a gate that let’s you into the secret world of menele – the long-forgotten chapter in human evolution between ape and Homo sapiens

  22. To compensate thermal expansion of pipes. It is called natural compensation.
