Just a few minutes ago, the final of EMA 2025 was completed, and Klemen was the big winner of the night with his song “How much time do we have left”. Although the predictions favored July Jones, in the end the 26-year-old artist with “New Religion” came in second place. But let’s take it from the top.
WHAT HAPPENED TONIGHT
At 20:00 CET – precisely – the two hosts of this year’s EMA , last year’s country representative, Raiven, along with singer Štras welcomed us to studio 1 of RTVSLO, the national broadcaster of Slovenia. The evening began with a special performance of the country’s Eurovision entry last year, as Raiven sang “Veronika” accompanied by a symphony orchestra.
Then, after explaining all the necessary stuff about the evening, the two hosts directly handed over the stage to the 12 contestants . The final started with ANNA performing ” Čau ” while the competitive part concluded with the performance of ” Frederick’s Dead ” by RAI .
In detail, the running order was as follows:
INTERVAL ACTS AND VOTING
Immediately afterwards, it was time to announce the first results. As had already been announced, 5 five-member juries awarded points using the Eurovision system (1-8, 10 and 12 points). The five juries were as follows:
Music Jury (singers, musicians, producers, songwriters, etc.)Television Jury (editors, presenters, directors, choreographers, etc.)Radio Jury (radio editors, journalists, presenters, etc.)OGAE Slovenia JuryInternational Eurovision Influencers Jury (bloggers, vloggers, online journalists, etc.)
The two entries that qualified for the superfinal round were “New Religion” and “How much time do we have left“. The gap between them was just one point, while the 3rd song was 18 points apart. Therefore, the two super finalists clearly stood out from the other 10 songs.
After a short pause, where first MRFY and then Raiven took to the stage as interval acts, the two superfinalists performed thier songs once again.
Some more interval acts followed: Ana Soklič, who had represented Slovenia at Eurovision 2021, and then we saw a collaboration between LPS (Eurovision 2022) and Lea Sirk (Eurovision 2018). Finally, Bojan Cvjetićanin (Joker Out, Eurovision 2023) presented a duet of our two hosts for the evening, Štras and Raiven.
There, it was the Slovenian audience’s turn to take action, as they were solely responsible for the big winner of the night. The Slovenians, therefore, gave the victory to Klemen! As OGAE Slovenia revealed just after the show ended, Klemen received 8895 televotes (66.90%), while July Jones received 4400 televotes (33.10%).

— Irma Musić (@IrmaMusic_) February 1, 2025 A FEW WORDS ABOUT “HOW MUCH TIME DO WE HAVE LEFT” AND KLEMEN
Klemen Slakonja (born 3 June 1985) is mainly an actor and a permanent member of the National Theatre of Ljubljana. He is also a very successful singer and music show presenter. He is very popular in his home country for his comedy sketches, often in the form of music videos, and for presenting various TV shows, including the Eurovision Song Contest. He has done numerous impersonations of Slovenian musicians, the Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Žižek, Pope Francis, Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, Angela Merkel and others. He has a special love for Eurovision, as he has proven with his outstanding re-enactments of iconic Eurovision acts.
Klemen has been married since 2010 to Slovenian actress Mojca Fatur with whom he has 2 children. In 2016 a big grey cloud appeared in their lives – and that’s exactly what “How much time do we have left” is about. In her post, Moija states:
In early 2016 I was diagnosed with severe bone marrow disease, which I fortunately overcame and cured completely. Klemen was a great support for me at that time. Not only did he completely take over all of the family finances and enabled me to focus on healing in peace. The fact that he never questioned my decisions on the path of self-healing or my belief that I would succeed meant more than that to me.
The song “How Much Time Do We Have Left” was not written for Emo. It was intended for me as a surprise on his upcoming album, which will see the light of day this year. But fate wanted me to hear it before and knew immediately that her time was NOW! Yes she should fly among the people. Because it opens hearts and heals.
When someone gets sick, all attention is drawn to him. When you are struggling for life, the people standing next to you don’t want to burden you with the feelings of fear, sadness, despair… I admit that I didn’t think that behind Klemen’s correct attitude there could be anything other than: “We’ve got this! “You’ll make it. “
He didn’t talk about it. It must have been very difficult for him. He sang that in song though. A lot of things are not said, but they are felt. Because it’s honest, without pretense. Because it wasn’t created as a proof that he’s winning, but it’s a pure confession of love. An ode to courage, hope, faith and victory! Above all, the fact that we are transients and should not take time with our loved ones for granted. Instead of fights, conspiracies, competitions, we prefer to devote it to loving socializing, heartfelt conversations, building community and spreading goodness.
If this song touched you or you like it in any way, I invite you to cast your vote for Klemn should you make it to the finals. Emma will be this Saturday, Feb. 1, at 8 p.m. on RTV SLO.
We are infinitely grateful for your words of encouragement and heartfelt comments, but unfortunately in the end it is the votes that count.
We will be happy too if you share the song among friends and acquaintances.
Hvala. ❤️
