Was looking at places to go for a walk tomorrow and noticed Sydenham Hill Woods is much “busier than usual” right now according to Google Maps. The thing is it’s 3° outside and 8.30pm at night.

I’ve been there many times before and it’s lovely but definitely not the kind of place I’d want to be wandering around in the dark – Blair Witch vibes.

Does anyone have a logical explanation? Google Maps glitch? Dogging hotspot?

  1. Logical answer: look up at the sky – moon and planets really visible and the woods will have less light pollution.

    And dogging of course.

  2. Unless it’s some impromptu dogging, it would appear as normally busy.

It’s a glitch or some type of rave / popup event.

  3. Don’t come down yet, my 1.5 hours isn’t up.

  4. I live not very far from there. There’s a hilly road connecting the Sydenham Hill station to Upper Sydenham. Many runners and commuters, use this road including myself. It’s literally outside the woods. That could be a possible reason. Dogging…may be…but never saw anything unscrupulous around there.

  5. Teddy Bears Picnic. It’s the only time they can go for a picnic these days.

  6. Saturday night is bukake night at Sydenham Hill… so I’m told

  7. Imagine being outed as a dogger by your flippin data.

I’ve never tried it! But never say never.

  8. shhh shhh don’t tell OP or the ambience will be ruined!

  9. Chris Wood scored a hatrick, it’s bringing everyone out.

  10. Me and my mate camped there one night and heard people shagging
