Climate scientists predict when the Arctic will go ice-free and it’s sooner than we think. While the drastic implications of global warming in Greenland and the Arctic are not new information, a new study predicted that the latter will be ice-free in three years’ time.

  1. Their article heavily implies that the finding of the paper says ice free Arctic by 2027 is most likely. That is a very misleading headline as compared to the actual paper – and they seem to make the same claim in the article itself. I highly recommend anyone following to read the actual paper as well.

Not trying to downplay anything, we definitely do not want an ice free Arctic – but I feel like this article is misrepesenting the actual paper itself, which largely comes down to internal variability in the near term, versus emissions pathway.
