4. This is a joke. The Kingdom of Denmark treated the Greenlanders as second class citizens for decades and indeed centuries, and as soon as the US makes a genuine offer to the Greenland folk, Denmark decide to do something there… So ugly.

   I lived in Copenhagen in the late 90s. I saw how the poor Greenlanders made up most of the homeless people living on the streets of Copenhagen, addicted to alcohol and drugs. And the Danes generally looked down on them.

   I hope the Greenlanders choose to be a part of the US, and serious investment goes into Greenland, and serious North Atlantic security is set up there, and the folk there finally live well.

24. Here is a proposal: Greenland declares independence from Denmark (with careful discussions) and Greenland is accepted into the EU as an independent territory within the EU. This satisfies the Greenlandic desire to be independent, it makes them part of the EU and hopefully NATO (maybe) and Greenland and the EU can come up with a mutually beneficial partnership for both Greenland and the EU for trade, defense, development, sensible and environmental mineral resources exploitation and at the same time keeping the Tangerine Tyrant out of the equation.

27. It's Okay to go for Greenland but it's not the right time for it. It's better to secure America & American freedom first before going for global freedom. Besides if EU says that greenland is EU territory than better ways ought to be taken to negotiate it's ownership. The present approach is too blunt & disrespectful & it will therefore face opposition to the extent of using military force. It's not something USA should prefer over peaceful ways of acquiring the now worlds most coveted land.

To date, now Greenlanders have lost their chance to be free. Things have changed in the world today, this is NOT 1942. It cost the United States BILLIONS of dollars TO KEEP satellite BASES OPEN IN GREENLAND. Look, Putin even said, " killing these people who want their Independance will be eliminated. Putin said we need to purge them and this is good for Russia! So, you ignorant, arrogant Greenlanders have made your decision, and the United States will pull back and allow your demise! The USA will be GONE, NOW, you can welcome your demise through, the Communist/Marxist Murders which you so deserve!

42. To have any chance of withstanding US military, Denmark will need the support of the rest of Europe, at the least.
    In reality, it'd also have to form an alliance with Russia and China. It'd have to try to secure continuity of oil from the middle east. If South American countries threw their lot in with the alliance, there'd be a slight hope. The UK would have divided loyalties, the vast majority of the working class would support it, but the establishment would side with the US. No matter who won, it'd be a challenging time. Let's all hope it comes to that.
