Can Trump Really Boost U.S. Oil Production https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/Can-Trump-Really-Boost-US-Oil-Production.html
While Trump hopes to help reduce inflation by decreasing energy prices for consumers, many oil companies are hesitant to increase output without the guarantee of higher oil and gas prices.
Can Trump Really Boost U.S. Oil Production?

No
The point of increased production is to lower prices. Lower prices are not good for shareholders. Not to mention OPEC isn’t going to play ball. So … no.
Concepts of plans
He did it before, he can do it again
Yes
There is a tiny problem in that US oil production is largely shale which requires a higher oil price in order to be profitable
Even if he can, it won’t be immediately. Gas prices will go up, and that will affect other prices as well.
Probably not. The pres can’t force companies to produce more.
Nope. Magical thinking.
Yes, but he will put a 25% tariff on it
I’m more interested in his tax breaks for horse and buggys, and how he’s going to get Canada to pay for shit removal.
Oh yea the Oil companies really want to pump more to bring the cost per barrel down as world demand for oil slows and peaks.
Short answer? No
Long answer? Heck no
The best thing anyone can do is invest in renewables.
You fools! You absolute fools
Depends. Does he have the power to nix subsidies for biofuels? That is the path of least resistance.
Not until we bring more refinement capacity online. Natural Gas, different story.
My question is: Why would we? Prices of oil would drop which oil companies would not want, and we already have enough oil to meet demand.
Pretty sure the plan is to just pat himself on the back for whatever wins in US Oil Production were already going to happen.
Most of the refineries in the US are tooled for heavy oil from Canada and Venezuela which is where America gets its gasoline from. The prices for gasoline are going to go up.
No. We’ve discussed this dozens of times. The oil producers are already producing more than they ever have and making record profits. The last thing they want is to flood the market and crash prices. “Drill baby, drill!” is not a serious energy policy. Just a stupid chant for his rally crowds
It doesn’t matter, he says what he wants and his base eats it up and believes it unconditionally.
No.
Trump can’t just order oil companies to produce more, these are private companies. There’s no incentive for them to produce more crude, so why would they bother?
And on top of it, the oil we produce (light sweet) we can barely refine. So 76% of the oil we turn into energy and other products all comes from imports (mostly Mexico and Canada). So even if we produced infinite oil, it wouldn’t change the price of 75% of the oil we use to make things
lol. No.
FDT
Pretty likely not. We already produce enough to meet demand, so to add more is just not gonna cut it. The more feasibly way to go about oil production is to gradually wean off of it, by adding more renewables. And we don’t have to wait on the government to do that, because they’re not going to be helping us out on that front these next 2-4 years.
What we can do, however, is vote in officials who will continue the energy policy the previous administration left behind. There’s elections just about every Tuesday, and you can help win those. Head over to r/VoteDEM to find out more about what elections are going on where.
LMFAO. No. I mean he said he’s lowering grocery prices while he was running for office. How’s that going? I’m surprised he even knows what oil looks like. Probably thinks it’s dirty water, only employed bc it’s a dei hire
I’m sure Reddit will give a completely accurate non partisan answer to this question
No.
I don’t even support boosting oil production, guys we have no planet B
We’re already near our peak output
Short answer: No
Long answer: Absolutely not
We produce more oil than any other country in the world in 2024
No. We are already at max capacity and no U.S. oil company is interested in producing more oil, which would lower the price of our oil on the market.
Of course, despite the majority of US refineries being set up to handle overseas sourced crude oil and not our domestic variant of raw oil. As we progress, we will get back on track within the coming 9-12 months. As before, retooling the various refinery hardware will be quick and at a reasonable cost in the big picture of things and will allow the US to set standards/costs/pricing on our own terms.
Anyone saying we reached our maximum output is not correct.
Just look how many wells Biden drilled in four years. The maga idiots seem to think it all stopped.
“Sleepy” Joe set domestic crude oil production records! Tell that to brainwashed Trump cultists and they scream “because he EMPTIED THE STRATEGIC OIL RESERVES!”
No, he did not empty it or even come close to emptying it. Plus, they can’t explain why we have the SOR, why it was created originally and what has changed in 50 years!
Who really gives a fuck , all he does is fuck things up and bitch about how he is oppressed.
Yes. Biden begrudgingly did. I’m sure Trump will do just fine.
No, and doesn’t matter we don’t have the refineries to do anything with extra oil, and one refinery is going off line for good this year,
No. Every time we have this stupid conversation what we’re really talking about is federal land. That’s what the president has some say over. What federal lands are available for drilling. The problem is that regardless of who is president the regulatory hurdles of drilling on federal land are so high that more than 90% of oil production happens on private land. Oil companies already have access to all the land they could possibly need to get all the oil they could possibly want. They’re not going to drill more unless the price of oil rises because there’s just a minimum price at which drilling is profitable and since drilling more lowers the price. Dot dot dot.
Also we don’t have the refining capacity for the type of oil we produce, so it’s all gotta get exported anyway.
We already pump sooooo much oil, what is the deal with this guy
No.
Does P Diddy needs more oil.
No.
For one thing US oil refineries are pretty much already running at capacity.
For another, there isn’t much incentive for an oil company to decrease prices. They lose money
Sure, if gas gets too expensive demand will drop a little, but we seem to be at a price currently that doesn’t cause a drop in demand. Last time prices really dropped the oil companies lost a ton of money and they don’t want to repeat that again.
He’s a Complete Fraud!!! Biden Already has Oil production at 13.3 Million Barrels a day……an All Time High
Only if he thinks he can export it, not have tariffs applied to the imports in target markets, and those target markets not reducing their demand for oil and gas products.
