Two dogs were rescued from a 20 metre pit in the Larnaca village of Anafotias, the fire department said on Sunday.
Fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis said on X that the department’s special operations unit EMAK responded to a call to save the dogs trapped in the pit.
“With the use of appropriate rescue equipment and a firefighter’s descent into the pit, the two dogs were retrieved and delivered alive to their owner,” he said.
The fire service then informed the community council that the competent department should ensure the area’s safety and cover the pit.
