If only I blame the people who did it in thw first place and not cry about the poor sod who has to bring this shitshow on track

Truth is Britian had a pretty good deal as part of the EU that Thatcher negotiated for us. If we were to attempt to join now we would be at a massive loss its a still a better choice than becoming the 51st State of America, we already have most expensive housing in the EU worst work/life balance. We don’t need healthcare costs on top of that
Shit post. It’s not as simple of rejoining just because the majority want to including me.
What happens if we rejoin and then the majority want to leave again?
Like fuck the eu would let Britain rejoin at the same conditions that we used to have.
Britan would be like the naughty kid at the back.
Because Brexit is a radioactive topic, they don’t want to go near it again. Can you imagine the howls of the Reform voters, calling it the death of democracy or whatever?
I’m pretty sure Starmer is playing the long game on this. Or at least I hope he is.
Allow the rejoin noise to become deafening. The country isn’t going to be less fucked, despite sensible decisions being made. America will be in flames. Possibly literally. Russia would’ve gotten away with literally murder. Possibly rewarded with land.
So next election he’ll promise a parliament debate and possibly a referendum to settle the issue. And settle with we are European or a 52nd state. Making that the difference between him and the right wing Tory/Reform block. Split the vote in his favour.
Then he’ll ride the economic wave of rejoining.
This is my hope at least.
Creating memes isn’t for everyone, this is the proof.
Problem is with polls, they don’t tend to get the full sense of the nation as they are done in specific areas with different social issues, meaning answers vary wildly from region to region. They learnt this WHEN BREXIT HAPPENED.
They had telephone polls which favoured highly remaining in the EU then online polls, which favoured more leaving the EU. Guess which one they went with and pushed?
Yep, we then officially had a referendum on the EU which then showed how close it actually was as the full country then got engaged, which ultimately led to our departure, which split our society in two, even families.
Lets say this repeats right now, the EU are already demanding concessions on fishing waters and further opening up borders (which was expected when they sued the UK a few months back, leverage on these concessions). With the current social climate of a fair bit of this country, it is like throwing gasoline on an already lit fire. This could potentially lead to the collapse of Starmers Government, and pave way for Reform UK to gobble up more votes, who have already now surpassed the conservatives in membership numbers.
Essentially they are walking a political tight rope right now, and a targeted poll ain’t gonna cut it.
Oh my god how many people are gonna post ‘his dad definitely made a tool hurrr’ like they just invented it and didn’t hear it continuously throughout the run up to the election when it was actually slightly amusing. Fucking hell.
FFS let us not make the mistake the Dem voters in the US have made, of sulking in the corner because their candidate didn’t meet 100% of their expectations.
There seems to be a lot of people wanting to burn the system down because Labour didn’t come into power with a magic wand.
Rejoin is currently polling below remain at the start of the Brexit vote campaign.
Voters would soon realise rejoin would means years more constitutional crisis, a worse deal than we had, probably some requirement to accept the euro etc. I don’t think would rejoin would win a referendum tomorrow. Remember the Lib Dems ran an unapologetic ‘rejoin’ campaign and got battered for it.
The fact that career politicians like Starmer are also not talking about it suggests that labour also knows this.
The British public consistently say immigration, the cost of living, and the NHS are their key issues. Running a ‘let’s just spend another ten years on Brexit and I promise it’ll get better’ campaign would be insane.
We were better in than out but that was largely down to the benefits Maggie T battled for us. If we rejoined, in all likelihood, we’d have to agree to every term they set. Still, it’s clear the people want something to happen. Have a referendum. Make it official and all that.
Staying out would be better if the government had handled it better they sabotaged it completely
Yes brexit is clearly starmers fault.
Just because a vocal group is loud about re-joining doesn’t mean 60% want to rejoin. People need to get over this, the fact reform has such a major backing backs this up.
I’ll admit the UK is a shithole compared to most European countries (minus most of France’s cities) but this has nothing to do with the lack of silly overbearing trade unions with extra strings attached and forcing economic migrants on its members.
We are where we are not because of Brexit but because of c*nts like starmer and his predecessors.
Additionally the cost of living is sky rocketing all over the world not just here.
His dad was a tool maker, and the biggest tool he ever made was Keir.
Apart from on reddit, no one in the UK is talking about rejoining the EU as a realistic possibility at this point. And I say this as someone who voted to remain and thinks Brexit was a terrible decision.
Rejoining is not on the table, and the EU wouldn’t take us back so soon after leaving anyway. We certainly wouldn’t get the deal we used to have.
No parties are running on a rejoin platform and it’s not part of current political discourse at all. Not to mention, Boris won an election just 5 years ago on a platform of getting Brexit done.
3 million people also called for a GE off the back of labours broken promises and lies, but I guess that doesn’t fit the Reddit narrative 🙄
The idea of us rejoining the EU is silly.
We would have to agree to drop the special treatment we were getting last time, which isn’t something we would be able to accept. That’s if the EU allowed us to rejoin at all, which isn’t very likely imo.
You know how the facts were ignored when we left? We need to look at the fact that Europe has a very strong position now. If we want to go back in now, I imagine we will need to take a reduced deal that will include lower subsidies, an agreement to take a certain number of outside of EU migrants, agree to freedom of movement, adopt the Euro, exit the tiny trade deals we have made since Brexit.
I for one am in. But for the love of god, let’s get it all out in the open so everyone can see exactly what they are getting.
I wonder how many of those rejoin people voted to leave in the first place?
The EU shouldn’t be something we go in and out of like a revolving door. Personally I think the margins for the previous referendum were too slim to take us out immediately, but equally, I don’t think there’s enough demand to warrant immediately going back in. I’d want to see a sustained majority before such decisions are made. Either 10 years of solid 50%+1 majority, or 5 years of 2/3rds majority. Perhaps a 75%/80% majority would warrant immediate action, but I’m still cautious of enacting the public’s direct will, when it’s often liable to change dramatically in just a few short years.
There’s also the imminent trade war Trump is looking likely to have with the EU so there may be value in us staying out and staying in favour, at least for the next 4 years.
Think that the topic of rejoining isn’t even going to be mentioned outside of the Liberal Democrats until the next Parliament at a minimum, only way I can see the EU letting the UK rejoin without fears of UK commitments issues is if we adopt the Euro which has it’s own pros and cons but would be very unpopular.
Lol that infographic isn’t true at all
To me the EU is a done deal. We left, now we should make the best of it and focus solely on us, not anyone else.
What I can’t ever forgive or forget is the blithering stupidity of Cameron for the way he ran the process. Any significant constitutional change should have required a significant majority. An amendment to the US constitution needs 2/3 majorities in both houses to succeed (IIRC), hence why there are so few Amendments. It should have been the same, so that whoever won could have put the argument to bed for a generation. It shows how shallow his intellect is, and exposes his lack of interest in actually doing the best for the electorate (versus just serving his own interests).
Dreadful meme probably made by stupid and short sighted idiots who think rejoining will fix any problems we have. I didn’t want brexit but rejoining would be idiotic at this point.
Ou Kier! Imagine being a tool maker who could work in 28 countries…
Just ignorant and dangerously stubborn.
Hear me out folks. It’s just an idea. We’re out, I get some people are happy about that, some people were, but now they’re not, and some people have never been happy about it. But here’s the idea… We elect a competent government who is able to negotiate a proper deal with the EU. By which I mean not that retarded half in half out deal that Theresa may tried to get. The one which made no one happy. It’s just a thought.
No he isn’t, nor is he stupid.
Made a tool there didn’t he boys amirite
Why do EU act like wankers?
They only gave people the choice because they knew they could convince stupid people to vote leave. They won’t give us a choice now because it’d be against their interest.
It never was a democracy, just the illusion of one
I don’t want to go through all of that shit again.
