Québec now joins Ontario in removing USA alcohol from purchase anywhere in the Province

  1. Québec via the SAQ is the only purchaser of alcohol in the Province of 9 million. Annual alcohol purchases of over 1.5 billion per year and they sell to every store, bar and restaurant in the Province.

    They now join the LCBO in Ontario (16 million) with over 2.5 billion in sales.

    in addition to other measures by Nova Scotia and British Columbia so far.

  3. Canada buys about a third of total US global exports of wine and alcohol, plus nearly a fifth of US global exports of beer. Losing the Canadian market will be felt.

    So far 7 out of our 13 provinces/territories have announced via their premiers that they will be haulting the sale and importation of US liquor:

    – Northwest territories
    – British Columbia
    – Manitoba
    – Ontario
    – Quebéc
    – Nova Scotia
    – Newfoundland & Labrador

    4 more provinces/territories are extremely likely to announce the haulting of US liquor sales based on their premiers comments in the following days:

    – New Brunswick
    – Saskatchewan
    – Prince Edward Island
    – Nunavut

    Two province/territory premiers have so far made no comments on the record about haulting sales of US liquor

    – Alberta
    – Yukon

    Thought I’d inform my fellow Canadians and supporters of Canadians alike :))

  31. Alberta sucks. Their leader Danielle Smith is garbage. She couldn’t handle being on the Calgary board of education for a year. That should have been the end of her career. Instead they promoted this dim bulb. Sure it was better than the Kenney, the prior premier, who failed to get his bachelors degree (in Philosophy (Easiest)).

    And they sell Alberta out for so cheap too. They could be building refineries to give Albertans jobs, but instead they sell oil for cents on the dollar. PATHETIC WEAK PROVINCE. 50 years of Conservative Leadership, never build enough for capacity. Any Conservative in that province should be ashamed of their lack of leadership. Their leaders are vampires.

  34. Americans should just boycott alcohol from red states in solidarity with Canada. Let the economic impact on red states be amplified by people taking a stand and refusing to buy alcohol made in red states, and made by companies who support Donald Trump. More important than buy American is to buy local from people who support your values. Patronize your local, small craft distillery, your local small brewers, your local small business that hasn’t sold their soul to shareholders at the expense of employees and customers and their community.

  37. As an American thank you and your leaders for doing this. Even if it isn’t banned at a government level I implore individuals to do so personally. Our silly government and the people who supported them need to feel ramifications of this. I do feel bad for those businesses that may not have voted for him, but something must be done.

  41. This is the way to do this. Tariffs will make some US companies feel the pinch, but banning the products is more effective. Canada should ban the importing of Teslas.
