The Russians make no secret that using tactical small scale nuclear weapons on the battlefield is something they would do. Unlike the US where they would not do this, but stated that any nuclear attack on their country would mean a full scale nuclear response or “everything” in their nuclear arsenal launched. We are in precarious times and don’t let the media or politicians tell you otherwise.
So many people on reddit clearly weren’t around during the Cold War.

But somewhere in NATO I hope there is a room of very bright and very informed people studying everything here and prepared to make the hard decision if necessary. There’s a good chance that Putin will push the nuclear button eventually no matter what- far far better if we strike first than second. There’s a reasonable chance that Russia’s response could be extremely limited.
It’s certainly a mistake to pretend that the threat simply isn’t real.
