  2. Judging by the Canada/Mexico tariffs. It’s like he and his people didn’t realize retaliatory tariffs were a thing. EU can hurt the US a whole lot more than they can.

  3. Boycotting physical products from the US won’t make much of a difference. Their real money comes from financial services and investments, not just the stuff they make.

    If you really want to hit them where it matters, focus on targeting US investments. For example, heavily tax anyone putting money into US stocks. Another idea is to pull EU pension funds out of American investments, or, if that’s not possible, raise taxes on those funds like crazy. That’s probably the most effective way to push back, especially if it’s something aimed at policies like Trump’s.

    So they might sell with better margin elsewhere, let’s say EU.

    And US goods of cost goes up because, of Tarifs on Canadian oil.

    The US, now threatens the EU and the EU buys a lot of Oil from the US.

    So what’s the plan.? …. The EU should buy more oil form Canada?

  24. You’d have to hurt stuff like Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Google, Amazon (including AWS), Meta, X, Tesla, Microsoft, Apple but that’s where simple tariffs don’t really work, do they? Also, that would most definitely hurt us so much more. Crazy how dependent we are on them. And there are no alternatives in sight.

    We could maybe replace gas and oil. Won’t be easy and won’t be cheap (e.g. over 80% of Germanys LNG is from the US) but since Trumps more or less only solution for inflation is lowering energy prices I guess even a reduction of 10% would make his blood boil.

    When we act as one we can be so powerful, never forget that.

  25. It’s so dumb he’s trying to fight this way with everyone at once. It’s way more destructive to the US. China/Europe/Mexico/Canada/Taiwan/Panama… It gives us way more leverage to defend ourselves. There’s billions of us.

  26. He doesn’t seem to have very holistic approach. Now USA and Canada are going to have tariffs between them, but Canada doesn’t have that problem with EU and China. He is just pushing Canada and EU to trade more with each other and China, and eroding everyone’s long term trust in USA.

    Buy local. Buy from your neighbour countries. Just don’t buy American anything if you can avoid it. It may be difficult for corporates, but I promise you can do it at individual level.

  33. We should go after Data Center / AI / Cloud services in the EU. That is where it hurts. Also it benefits EU alternatives. Due to data location regulation European companies require that their data be kept inside the EU. Not only for classic cloud services but also AI services. AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud… 25% additional tax on all servies provided to European companies.. That is a pretty nice incentive to look at EU alternatives or start buidling your own.

    Also.. Looking at you Ireland… Time to stop what you are doing.
