I just moved into my new apartment in germany and this is on the stone wall. Is It an old vent for something? I'm about to cover it with a clock.

  1. It’s a chimney hole cover. It covers an unused chimney connection for a fireplace

  2. Either a chimney hole cover, but i think it is to small. But there also can be cable for Lights behind. Looks like a cap. There is a screw in the middle you can get out and look behind. I would guess it is for a wall lamp.

  3. Very likely that there is cables unter that.
    Maybe a fixture.
    That wall is new.
    And our houses rarely have vents. Let alone old ones.
    This is modern.
    Take a look under it.
