The governor of Russia’s Astrakhan region said that a gas processing plant in the region had suspended operations before coming under a Ukrainian drone attack overnight on Sunday.
The drone attacks triggered fires at a major oil refinery and gas processing plant and disrupted flights from the Volga to the Caucasus Mountains, Russian and Ukrainian officials said.
Reuters was able to confirm the location from a smokestack, lamp post and containers seen in the video that matched satellite imagery. Date of the footage could not be verified, however Astrakhan governor Igor Babushkin on Monday (February 3) said on telegram that Ukrainian armed forces attempted a drone attack on objects located in the region, including fuel and energy facilities.
