  1. I’ve started to get coaches now, otherwise I won’t be able to see friends or family.

  2. You can get an advance ticket for £20 but you have to book it for 11.22am on Thursday 19th June 2026 only.

  3. Every time I go to Europe I’m stunned by how affordable their rail fares are.

    Ours are an absolute joke

  4. I would rather stay at home than make a journey somewhere by train.

Buying tickets for trains here very much seem to be a case of “pull a ticket out of the hat and if you’re lucky it will be the correct one”.

  5. Train tickets are a scam. I used to travel from Reading to Stoke and back again a couple of times a month (Travel from Uni to visit family etc). off peak it was roughly 40 quid and during peak hours it could range from 80-100. Daylight robbery.

  6. And a queue of angry people behind you whilst trying to work this shit out.

  7. It’s not that bad, although I will admit our ticket system will need improvement alongside everything else

  8. Honestly it’s an absolute joke. Do you want the super off peak saver? Or the extra super saver peak?

I used to live in Japan. They had a price based on the distance traveled, a % discount if you ordered *at least* 24hrs in advance, and a surcharge for the bullet train. That was basically it.

  9. £100 for a train ticket? Must be London right?

I went to Edinburgh, a 5h trip, and it cost me £30

  10. Ah yes the classic only if you’re a Gemini clause. Makes perfect sense.

  11. I remember visiting eastern Europe last year and got a two and a half hour train trip for the equivalent of £3.77

My current train route into London which is 1h 50m is ten times that if you’re INSANELY LUCKY
