    They should announce that they want to firm a coalition of the willing. Which ever nations agree to join will get 20 years of rare earth metals at a % discount from market value. The 20 years will start 3 years after Ukraine regains all borders back to 1996.

  15. Honestly, this isn’t necessarily bad. It gives the USA a vested interest in maintaining Ukraine as a viable country and would require US resources to develop the infrastructure to support it. It beats just abandoning them.

  17. Honestly I’m not surprised at this. I figured this would eventually happen having an area of neutrality.

    My guess is he is wanting Crimea for the vacation spots and the strategic advantage of having the port in Sevastopol. Making it be a place where not only one, but both countries have to go through for shipments would allot an advantage that ensures a neutrality from that point on.

    Originally I estimated it would be a NATO declared area of neutrality, but if he’s truly wanting a piece of land it’s the port that Russia fought so hard to get because it’s the only ones that is not frozen in the area near them half the year.

  23. Well the Donbas region does belong to Ukraine – only Russia has currently occupied it, and claim it as Russian territory. But they will likely be forced to return it at some later point, depending on just how much force is applied to Russia.

Charity last only that long, Afghanistan has something to say about it.

    Maybe next time when someone will decide to block USA business from coming with extra bureaucracy or stupid patent like “Starbucks UA” they will rethink.

  35. Actually, a US presence in Eastern Ukraine after a Russian withdrawal would deter the Russians from trying to invade again. Of course, getting the Russians to leave is a very challenging objective.
