The building housing the supermarket chain’s store, on Yarm Road, could soon be snapped up after the landlord put the unit on the market.
The lot is available for sale at an Allsop online auction, due to be held on Thursday (February 6), described as a long leasehold investment opportunity with an asking price of around £1.4m.
However, Iceland has confirmed that this does not affect the brand’s 8,619 sq ft store, which has a lease in place until at least 2030.
The store will continue to trade as normal.
A spokesperson said: “We can confirm the landlord of our Iceland store on Yarm Road in Darlington has put the freehold of the property up for sale.
“However, this does not affect our occupancy as the leaseholder and Iceland will remain open, continuing to trade as normal.”
