1. The Paris Accords have been irrelevant for several years now. COP26 was vaguely useful but even that only demonstrated who vapid it actually was in the end.

   Since then it has been a sick joke.

   The question suggests that the Accords are actually a binding treaty. They aren’t and never were. Which points to why it is useless.

   It’s easy to sign an agreement that has no enforcement mechanisms.

2. Well… shouldn’t we do the opposite? Like double down or smth? Wasnt Indonesia on a positive path the last year? Deforestation etc?

3. This race to the bottom nightmare is exactly why we needed the US in the game and LEADING. Only the big polluters can lead, anything less is:

   > “This is a matter of justice. Indonesia produces 3 tons of carbon while the US produces 13 tons, yet we are the ones being told to close our power plants and reduce our steam power plants. So, where is the sense of justice here?” Djojohadikusumo said.

   Unjust.

4. Because the Paris Agreement lacked a binding enforcement mechanism, some climate hawks (e.g., me) never thought the Paris Agreement was very relevant.

5. COP27 was the end of “global” cooperation on this… whatever little there was.

9. If not for the sheer existential horror, it’s pretty amusing for an archipelagic country to ask this question.

14. So corporate wants to strip the forests and impoverish the people while taking the planet to a hell hole thermal runaway where Indonesia is so hot animal life can no longer exist there?

15. How dare this man basically say: “Well if they won’t do it, then me neither 😡” and promote further pollution, with the beauty of the rainforest in his background. That’s exactly what he’s destroying.

21. Yeah, this was inevitable. Honestly why China needs to really step up and take the reins as the new leader. Can’t believe I’m saying this but China needs to lead the new world.
