  1. Yes and No. Scholz was so pathetic until today. Today is the same.

  2. Scholz is just jealous.
    If Scholz had given Ukraine Tauras missiles then Germany might have got some rare earth minerals too.

  3. Ukrainian faces a choice right now like so many other countries in the world. The US is no longer an honest partner, so Ukraine can sell their future to the US for weapons now. They can surrender to Russia. Or they can join the EU but not get access to the American weapons.

  4. No matter how morally wrong this is if Ukraine can get the US and trump fully on board with pursuing complete victory in exchange for the promise to exploit the natural resources after the Russians are out I’d take that deal.

  5. As a German: just shut up, Olaf. You had your chance, but now as a lame duck, it’s no use trying to gain points for your doomed election campaign.

  6. Idealism and Realpolitik don’t mix. Scholz’s idealistic posturing isn’t going to revive his broken coalition or his low approval numbers. Germany has pushed its arms industry heavily into Ukraine. Trump is looking for the same guarantees as those for US companies. I’m sure one part of Scholz’s attack on Trump is to protect German investments in Ukraine. Some German politicians are no doubt scared that the US, which Ukraine views as the most important of its partners, will lose influence to the US under Trump; Scholz is speaking for them. By no means is Trump a friend of Ukraine, so if Ukraine wants US support, it needs to provide the guarantees that would interest Trump. Another option is for Ukraine to forget the US completely, tell Trump to kick rocks, and turn to the EU.

  7. Since he’s been apparently having more of his ‘close personal calls’ with Putin, this is Trump furthering Kremlin talking points about a ‘multipolar Great Power world’, where smaller States can just be predated upon by those bigger and stronger because they are weaker, and are not to be allowed any agency of their own.

    It’s how autocrats see the world in general, and Trump is *desperate* to be included in their “big boys’ club” 🤷‍♂️
