This also explains why they tend to be more conspiracy theorists on that side of the aisle as well.
I mean they are always throwing the Uno reverse card at everything. But leftists on the other hand just focus on irrelevant things like they have ADHD. Let’s just agree that every politician is a corrupt bureaucrat.
REPUBLICAN: I hereby declare a deep, insidious conspiracy, incomparably corrupt in the annals of history.

REPUBLICAN: Didn’t you hear me invoke the word “insidious”??

Conservative ideology is a river that’s a mile wide and an inch deep.
It looks more and more like American conservatism is based on preserving Stone Age things.
I feel like this is backwards. The truth is often the simple answer, but they’d rather believe these complicated and convoluted conspiracy theories that are furthest from fact.
Simple conclusions *that reinforce my tribal worldview*
One thing that I learned in college from writing papers is that I could spend weeks researching something and still barely have scratched the surface.
A lot of conservatives will watch a news segment and think they have all the answers on a topic.
‘inconvenient truths’
It certainly is a big part of the story. Another is them being stubborn and digging in deeper when they realize they might be wrong. Another is a massive misinformation push from Russia, (on fb, reddit, youtube, even a fake news channel at one point they made), and lastly most all the major “news” media has been bought up by evil rich scumbags so citizens are being manipulated by that bs as well.
I live in a red state and all I hear is how wonderful a deal Trump made and how our allies are bending at the knee to kiss the ring. I can’t roll my eyes hard enough
It really does seem like they only have about a 240 character attention span. I remember arguing with some rando on here a while back and it seemed like they were only reading the first two or three sentences… and it was because they were only reading the first tow or three sentences. Side-note: don’t argue with randos on the internet and expect it to be productive.

Conservative thought leaders LOVE the poorly educated, they will tell you so themselves.
Tradition, freedom, patriotism
You could put red girl as “insane convoluted conspiracy theories that blame someone else” and blue girl as “simple conclusions that are true” and be just as accurate
More like “pulling shit right out of their ass”. A lot of conservative conspiracy theories require immense mental contortions and yet they still lap that shit up like a dog eating out of the garbage can.
Cognizant dissonance is the state of holding two inherently contradictory ideas as true at the same time—or, the core requirement of being a Trumpizoidal maniac.

**What is illusion of explanatory depth?**
The illusion of explanatory depth (IOED) describes our belief that we understand more about the world than we actually do. It is often not until we are asked to actually explain a concept that we come face to face with our limited understanding of it.
Don’t forget the unwillingness of the Democratic Party to oust Biden from the 2024 nomination sooner.

>”Yes, while it may seem that way by every known, “measurable” metric, here’s 54 paragraphs of how they’re actually the backbone of America. You’re not going to recognize a lot of these words or terms, and that’s totally fine because this vocabulary was created by a 29yr-old gender studies professor 3 years ago, just follow along.”
Keep in mind this is true for just about everything, not just politics. We all take the intellectually lazy route at times, over certain topics, the key is to recognize when you’re doing that. I usually fail.
you are honestly delusional if you think this only applies to conservatives. This is just how the masses work, be it left, right, up, down. Politicians know that. thats their whole business model.
This is perhaps the most eloquent illustration of American politics right now.
