TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Beyond the entertainment factor, Taylor Swift’s influence has extended into unexpected areas, and it’s not just football.
Swift’s impact is seen on and off the field, with local businesses seeing an increase in foot traffic, and millions of new fans – including a growing female audience – tuning in for game days.
“There is an estimate that she brought about $331.5 million in brand value to both the Chiefs and the NFL, viewership increased in regular games by 7%, female viewership up 9%, and Kelce Jersey sales increased by about 400%,” said Misty Heggeness, author of ‘Swiftynomics’.
“People are excited that she is around, and she’s definitely helping to bring in added economic growth for our community,” Heggeness continued.
Beyond the numbers, Swift’s appearances have created unforgettable moments for fans.
“I actually went to the first Chiefs game that she was at. I didn’t know she was going to be there, and the environment was so crazy,” said Elle Siegel, a student at the University of Kansas.
Whether fans are there for football or to see Taylor Swift herself, the excitement has turned into tangible benefits for the community.
