(source) A rather complex Google Docs form I made to filter out people.
I’ve had 93 applicants, spanning 3 rounds of searching. All players have been recruited from LFG_EU using a custom Google Docs form. All 3 rounds have been added to the same diagram, to simplify.
Round 1:
Campaign made it to session 5-6 and then players started to leave, due to work, school or other conflicts. Only 2 original players remained
Round 2:
3 more players joined over time, and remained ’till the end. That campaign ended last summer, after a “well, let’s have a short hiatus, why not” thing. Players disbanded and didn’t want to keep playing. If you’ve ever played D&D then you know how hard it is to have a full campaign with friends. Now imagine what it is like with randos from all over the world.
Round 3:
Started fresh, making a brand new campaign for new players. All 4 players (who knew eachother beforehand) made it through all 14 sessions and finished the campaign! We are currently having a break, and will continue again in a new campaign. The players are going to run a oneshot each, just so that I too can play, and they can see how hard it is to DM.
NOTE:
1. Overlap in “Incomaptible” tab: some applicants have multiple reasons for being rejected. Sorry, but I didn’t know how to make it look better, but you get the point anyway.
2. The final group did not go through the same screening process as group 1 and 2, as it was a “closed interview”, just them, as they already knew eachother.
**TL;DR: 93 applicants, 3 rounds of finding people, 2 campaign attempts, 1 success. So, so many weirdos and people who simply don’t read the application form.**
If there’s 93 applicants how are 53 compatible and 70 incompatible?
Why would you require a web cam? Of all hobbies that you don’t need to see someone face…
Finally an original sankey! Thank you!
“MIsc red flags/weirdos”
Making this autistic graph shows you are the weirdo with red flags.
Props to you for interviewing that many people. I’ve never let an ad stay up long enough to get *93* applicants – usually I shut it down after I’ve had 20-25 or so because I just don’t want to go through that many more people.
where do people advertise for players? I’ve always wanted to try…
Damn, I didn’t know it was that hard to get your wizardry on.

Firstly, I am not a data scientist. So it looks a bit wonky… Be gentle.
