  1. Everything he’s been saying this whole awards season campaign has been gold. No way he wins the award but he’s already won my heart.

  2. That sound you hear is everyone running to IMDB to look up what he did in ‘16, ‘17 and ‘18.

  3. Who do you think it could be? I saw a shitty commercial on YouTube with Katherine Heigl and she’s my guess.

  4. Off the top of my head: Sarah Michelle Gellar, the brother on Supernatural that wasn’t on Gilmore Girls, Margot Robie and Kylie Minogue were on soap operas

Orlando Bloom was on Midsomer Murders, that’s kind of like a soap opera

Edit: omg people, read the whole comment before you reply!

  5. I was on a soap opera. Now look where I am!

    Sincerely

    Skeletor 💜

  6. Australian (most likely) actress in a shitty tv ad in 1991 or 1992.

As an American I’m not quite up on my shitty Aussie tv ads from before I was born, but thought I’d point out it was in the early 90’s.

  7. Breaking into acting is so fucking hard, it takes a real dick to make fun of how someone else broke in. Besides it’s all art. Who cares.

  8. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Divorce is too damn expensive

  9. Guy Pearce has been continuously underrated his whole career. I’m extremely excited for him.

  10. This doesn’t make him sound any better than the actress belittling him.

  11. Guy Pearce is a damn treasure of an actor and I’ll watch any movie he’s in. It’s a shame he wasn’t able to break out more and get better roles.

  12. Don’t dog on him because he was in a soap opera. Dog on him because his career success hinged on the fact that he was born with natural buccal fat removal.

  13. Only on the internet will you find people who will pretend that theyve never thought about hitting someone who have pissed them off. He’ll never do it guys. The thought alone is just a coping mechagmism to deal with the anger.

  14. Pearce is excellent. First time I noticed him was LA Confidential, he was excellent. Then Memento, just blew me away. Try to watch whatever he is in ever since

  15. Odd thing to make fun of because if an actor is Australian, you can bet they have had an appearance on Neighbours or Home and away. You have to start somewhere

  16. Ha.. used to watch him in Neighbours. He was a guest appearance and had a short relationship with Jane.

  17. WTF? *”HoW cOuLd YoU hAvE a JoB?”*

A regular gig is a pretty sweet and rare thing to have in the industry. ¯\_( ͡❛ ͜ʖ ͡❛)_/¯

  18. Had a family member who worked on Neighbours behind the scenes when GP was on the show. She had nothing but great things to say about him. I already liked him, but this made me even happier for him as he continued to find success post-Neighbours, especially when he started working regularly outside Australia.

  19. kevin bacon. julianne moore. brad pitt. leo. justin hartley. michael b jordan

just a few who started with soaps, there are SO many

  20. why didn’t he do it? entertainment from headlines would have lasted weeks

  21. Isn’t that how it mostly ends? The person doing the mocking is projecting their own inadequacies and end up becoming the very thing they make fun of? Soaps are not only a paycheck, but you have to memorize entire scenes in one day or hours before when there’s last minute script changes, just before you’re in front of the camera. You have to have a technical ability to know how to move as well, such as repeating continuity with each take. When to say the lines before or after handling an object so as not to interfere with sound. It’s a high pressure technical skill to hone and have.

  22. Ok, a legit blind item; most of the time they annoy me but let’s figure this one out:

Australian, woman, snobby so career was good at the time, presumably worked with Guy Pearce, 1990, did a shitty ad around 1995.

    Hm, hm, hm…

I’m gonna go with Judy Davis. I have no idea if she worked with Guy Pearce or did an ad, but she is known for being difficult. She also had a kickass career back then; I loved Impromptu so much.

  23. The fact that he returned to Neighbours (where he started his career) for the finale and then the reboot, shows what a class act he is. Many actors have refused to go back to where they started once they achieved major acting careers, and he did it as though they were doing him a favour in even asking him back. Nothing makes me like a person more than someone who is humble, particularly in success.

  24. Not an actor but Ive always had more respect for actors who started on soaps bc they have to learn so many lines and go through so many emotions. And I dont know if you watched 80’s soaps, but they had some top-notch acting…

  25. I wish they would just call out who they are talking about. If you’re gonna be brave enough to retell it don’t make us guess. If you’re gonna spill that tea, make a mess.

  26. Speaking of soaps, everyone should watch Nolly with Helena Bonham Carter.

  27. This guy disappeared into his role in The Brutalist. Didn’t even fucking realize it was him till the credits rolled

  28. I dont care he didnt win any awards, he has class and he has the prize of being an amazing actor so far

  29. I recently saw Kathrine Hiegel in a YouTube dogfood commercial

  30. Sam Neill wrote in his autobiography about how she iced him out for no apparent reason, despite having costarred in two films together.
