Pensioners gathered this morning in Belgrade to express support for students, with slogans such as “Granny has woken up”; “The boomers are with you”; and many other quirky lines

  1. Some videos from X (yes, I know many people don’t like X, but everyone in Serbia, left, right and center is still on X, and besides, r/europe doesn’t allow for like instagram links; also, copying people’s tweets here is not an endorsement!):

As the students marched, the pensioners were applauding and cheering on the sides, a ton of students started crying, and many pensioners as well:

  2. Anyone knows why dude in pic13 is using the Spanish anti-fascist slogan “No pasarán”?

  3. Meanwhile, British pensioners (most of them) gave a massive middle finger to students voting Brexit and Tory and now reform. If only they had been more like these ones.

Plenty of younger morons flocking to Reforn because of Tiktok of course; but that’s that.

  4. If only the rest of Europe was like this. In Ireland, the boomer mentality is ‘I got mine, so fuck you’

  5. Sumnjaju neki da nosi nas pogrešan tok, jer slušamo ploče i sviramo rok ❤️

Edit: [this is the song](https://youtu.be/ge7KoJxSgSc?si=KP_UIiySfBc42cEF) the last two pictures are referencing, titled You can count on us. It’s by a singer/songwriter Đorđe Balašević from Novi Sad, the city where the train station tragedy happened. He’s somewhat become a symbol of the protests.

  6. Getting old people involved?! WOW! Thank you serbian brothers and sisters.

  7. There are signs in Latin script and signs and Cyrillic, are both used in Serbia or they are in different languages?

  8. This is so good! I’d love to have similar elders in Hungary too.

  9. That’s amazing. Can someone translate all the messages in these pictures?

  10. This is really inspiring, seeing the unity between young and old who often are on opposite ends of the political spectrum!
