This Is So Much Worse Than Last Time

  1. Last time wasn’t a coup out in the open, so yeah, it’s already way way worse.

  2. Well ya, last time we didn’t vote for Elon last time. Oh wait, no one voted for him this time either.

  3. Trump has already failed or underwhelmed on much more than last time. It’s laughable in real terms if you can withstand the emotional terrorism Trump is attempting.

  4. Don’t worry Susan Collins said he has learned his lesson.

  5. And we are only on fucking week three.

Imagine six months from now? A year?

When do you think executing opposition members or protestors will come up? 90 days?

  6. Last time he was not expecting to win. He was planning to form a media company in the wake of his loss to Hillary Clinton. His team came into office disorganized and never really got their act together. At the time we thought that was a negative.

This time they expected to win and had a plan ready to go. They are executing said plan with all deliberate speed.

  7. Just so we’re all keeping this in perspective- the first term he completely botched a pandemic, tried to use the army against protestors, incited a violent riot to have his VP killed, was impeached twice, ended up with 4 different lawsuits against him… I’m sure I’m missing a LOT more but my god the bar was low

  8. He told us it would be. The only campaign promises he has delivered on are the ones that would make people suffer and destroy our democracy. So, let me say this poignantly, no shit Sherlock.

  9. Yup. It’s almost like there was a plan…or a project outlining all horrible stuff that was going to happen.

  10. Well, yeah, he had four years to realize that he can indeed get away with anything (“I could shoot someone in broad daylight on 5th Avenue and get away with it”) because spineless sycophants will support and protect him at every turn.

Even if he’s aware that the whole party is parasitic and has zero loyalty to anyone, he’s fine with it as long as the shared using and abusing benefits him in some way.

  11. What Donald Trump and Elon Musk are doing mirrors the actions of past authoritarian regimes. **It took just 53 days for Hitler to dismantle Germany’s democracy.** 53 days. **He used executive orders, erased marginalized groups, and silenced opposition—while too many stood by and did nothing.**

Trump’s executive order erases transgender and intersex people from legal recognition—just like **Hitler erased Jewish and trans people from legal records before persecution began.**

Elon Musk now has access to the U.S. Treasury’s financial system—just like **Putin’s oligarchs seized control of Russia’s wealth to consolidate power.**

Trump is erasing vital medical information from our government and silencing opposition—just like **Hitler suppressed science and banned opposing views.**

Trump is dismantling government agencies, firing oversight officials, and gutting institutions like USAID and the Department of Education—just like **Hitler replaced government officials with loyalists to eliminate accountability.**

We are on day 15, and we are running out of time. We have to make change, or our democracy will be gone.

  12. Ya think? This is nothing but the wholesale slaughter of democracy and the American government. Fucking moron Trump voters think it’s great. They seem to forget that they are on the same sinking boat.

  13. I just want to know, honest question. What are WE, the American citizens going to do about this? Better yet, what CAN we do about this? It’s like a class project that you participated in but still failed because everyone else sucks.

This man is pushing out executive orders left and right, Elon is running things he shouldn’t, and people unqualified to do these jobs are now in a position of power that leaves it to seem like all hope is lost.

People who voted for him the first time, voted for him a second. People who voted for him the first time supported everything he’s done but don’t support what he’s doing now. So he fooled you once, but now you see that it’s really real.

  14. OH, you expected it to be better? He has no incentive to behave after the Supreme Court rulings came down that essentially leave the Executive powers unchecked.

  15. President Elon is so much worse than President Trump was.

  16. we are in the end game, and it’s right wing media, not Trump. It’s clear the propaganda game they are playing and now they have all the chips from the poker game in their stack. GOP voters have full faith in “whatever” happens no matter how not-what-they-asked-for it is.

Trump literally handed the GOP a way to raise taxes without calling it taxes and have the people paying them cheer for it. It literally doesn’t get any better than this for them.

  17. We all knew it would be, and tried to warn all the dipshits. I am though a little surprised at the dizzying speed of the decline.

  18. Yes because people aren’t dumb-dumbs. For instance: The fentanyl crisis started when Purdue Pharma created oxycontin and promoted opioids to the general public. The fentanyl crisis is an American made problem.

  19. And after the damage is done, watch those who voted for him say something along the lines of “what did you think would have happened under Kamala? It would have been worse.” There will be no accountability, remorse or capitulation. They’ve been taught otherwise by their Orange Demigod

  20. DOGE must be countered with DGAF (Democratic Governors Against Fascism)

We need Democratic Governors to form a coalition immediately—it’s our best chance to stop creeping fascism.

Democratic states control 70% of U.S. GDP and have independent National Guard forces at their disposal (for now). This is our best leverage to push back against authoritarian overreach.

Call or email your Governor NOW—demand they form a Blue-State Emergency Coalition.

I’d encourage you to spread this message.

    MESSAGE TEMPLATE

    Dear Governor,

I urge you to lead a coalition of Democratic Governors to counter the growing threat of federal overreach. Elon Musk now controls the U.S. Treasury payment system, giving him dangerous influence over federal funding. If we do nothing, critical programs could be sabotaged at his whim.

We need a unified Blue-State Emergency Coalition to:
Coordinate legal challenges to block unconstitutional federal actions.
Declare a collective State of Emergency to protect state resources.
Refuse cooperation with unlawful federal directives.

This is not about partisanship—it’s about defending democracy and economic stability. We must act before it’s too late. You have the power to make this happen. Will you take action?

I look forward to your response.

  21. Watching from the outside in it’s very clear that this is a slow rolling coup that’s happening right in front of our eyes. With all respect, you need to get your shit together quickly before violence takes over, from both sides.

  22. Who would have thought that putting in a convicted felon with no guard rails, and surrounding him with evil billionaires would be worse than the first time?

  23. As promised, no guard rails. No Generals. Not a single non-sycophant in the cabinet. Those folks who claimed “the institutions held the first time, they’ll be fine for a 2nd” are about to get a rude awakening. Authoritarianism / Fascism does a frog boiling in water for most of the ramp up, then it accelerates quickly once you’re close to the end. We’re getting close to that acceleration point, when it all falls apart.

  24. How are the 3 remaining former presidents not making any statements about any of this? I understand there is an unspoken rule about criticizing the current president, but this is something way beyond basic policy disagreement. There should be a unified response to the public and maybe then people will wake the fuck up. Sadly half the country is more worried about the fucking super bowl than their future

  25. He’s figured out the guardrails that stopped him last time, and he’s sent Elon in to demolish those guardrails.

The only hope we have is the changes Elon is trying to make gets tied up in the courts/congress until midterms.

The Senate map isn’t there. Dems aren’t gonna take the Senate. There’s more Republican seats up for grab, yes – but they’re in pretty comfortable areas for the Republicans.

The House is a different story. If the Dems can take the House, they can bring most of this to a screeching halt.

  26. just checked the twitter page for the ~~Trump stooge~~ Uncommitted Vote leader, Abbas Allawieh, the pro-Palestine group that refused to support Harris. Guy has been quiet since the election but is now retweeting stuff about how it’s still somehow Biden/Harris’ fault

I know these people already had barely a shred of intelligence on this issue, but goddamn… what a total clown

  27. No shit, and we all tried warning you all that voted for him.

  28. It’s been 2 and a half weeks and the Constitution has already been put in the shredder.

  29. He said he was going to be a dictator, he said you would never need to vote again… i mean if you voted for him you’re getting what you wanted, congratulations , if you didnt vote you’re also getting what you wanted, congratulations.

It does not matter if you didnt vote for Musk, dictators can do what they want, and he wants Elon doing what he is doing..

  30. If only everyone with eyes and ears had been saying it would be for literally years

  31. I just don’t see this guy making it to the end of the year, Musk either. They are pushing too hard.

  32. I fucking (forgive me for swearing) WARNED everyone in my circle before the election!!!

Everyone kept downplaying every single one of my worries…

Now, here we are… 3 weeks into it. And feels like years of chaos

  33. Every time I check the headlines I have panic attack.

    So yeah it’s fucking bad.

  34. Did people think he was a changed man? Dude was booked, had a mugshot, was convicted, was shot at, and almost shot at again. Did anyone think he would come back being a reborn Christian after all that?

  35. I told anyone who would listen that if he won, this would be worse than his first term. He learned his lessons the first time and has everyone around him who will do his bidding and put up absolutely zero guard rails to protect the country and the constitution. I’m disgusted at the Democrats and the never Trumper in Congress, who are sitting idly by and letting all of this happen to our freedom our democracy, our republic, our country.

  36. Last time he had no clue what he was doing. This time he knows more about how to manipulate the government and abuse his power. I don’t fully understand how him and musk are getting away with things that are illegal. Is their plan just to overwhelm the justice department?

  37. Yup. He stands for nothing. He just wants everyone to fall in line with him and praise him for his nonsense. So fucking stupid.
