>During a recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, after the late-night host praised the film, Ferrell said to Colbert, “Ask me if we got Oscar-nominated.”
>“It’s such a good documentary, it’s one of the best documentaries I’ve seen in years,” responded Colbert. “It was beautiful, it was timely, it was heartfelt, I was inspired by it. How was the Oscar nomination?”
>“We didn’t get it,” Ferrell said. Colbert expressed his apologies, and then jokingly added, “Well, f— those guys, right? F— the Academy, say it!”
>”Especially the doc branch, the doc branch of the Academy,” Ferrell joked. “You don’t want to hang out with the doc branch. What a bunch of losers; in fact, I hope there’s some of them here tonight. See, if you’re a member of the doc branch — suck it!”
More cowbells more
It was a really good doc.
Filmmaker mad his film didn’t get nominated. Tale as old as time.
It was good, but the Academy is notorious for rejecting basically any documentary involving a celebrity regardless of how good it is.
Award shows are basically huge virtue signaling affairs anyway. It’s nonsense
I really don’t think it was that good. It does humanize a trans person and may help people realize that they are just like any other person. However, I really don’t think a documentary about any other person is that interesting…
This was genuinely a very well made film and while I know Ferrell was just kidding, it should have been nominated IMO. But it’s far from the Academy’s worst sin this year…looking at you, Emilia Perez.
It was a good dog but the way he put her on display and made a spectacle of it was fairly disheartening. He could’ve left his antics out
They snubbed Barbie and only gave audience to a song about Ken.
That was all I needed to hear. I quit giving The Oscar’s my time after that.
If you make a film (of any kind) expecting awards then you aren’t doing it for the right reason
I thought it was okay – I felt like his friend that was transitioning forced a lot of things. It felt a bit uncomfortable and awkward at times.
It had some cute/nice moments but overall I wasn’t a big fan of it. I expected it to be more heartwarming and really well done. It didn’t check those boxes for me.
And here we go. Everyone’s a transphobe cause they didn’t like your movie
👏AWARDS DONT MATTER👏
It was a decent documentary but it wasn’t Oscar worthy.
With the fact that this and I Saw The TV Glow didn’t get nominated I’m starting to think that there’s maybe a bias problem with the committee that gives these nominations
It was excellent, it deserved a nom.
One of the most moving documentaries I’ve seen
Best doc in years <3
Surprising. Usually the academy loves pandering
I really enjoyed this doc. Thank you for putting it out for the world.
I was invited to the premiere of Will and Harper. As a trans person, it filled me with hope. Now all I feel is pain and sadness.
pretty much the only transpandering film that didn’t get nominated lmao
That doc was amazing. Made me cry.
I watched this last week and really enjoyed it. Will Ferrell is an amazing person and also a great friend to Harper. He got emotional several times and you can see how much he cares for his friends and wants them to he happy. He seems like a really genuine person and also very humble.
