Maltese defender Zach Muscat will continue his career in Turkey after completing his move to Sanliurfaspor in the second-tier.

The Times of Malta had reported earlier that the Malta international, who has been without a club since leaving Portugal’s Farense at the end of the 2023/2024 campaign, was on the brink of a transfer to Turkish football.

Muscat, 31, travelled to Turkey on Saturday morning to complete the transfer that will he see him play at Sanliurfaspor until the end of the season with an option for another year.

The former Birkirkara defender will wear the number 22 shirt and will be available for selection from next match against Bandurmaspor, this Sunday.

Sanliurfaspor sit 16th in the 20-team championship with the bottom four places meaning relegation to third-tier.

He is at the back of a spell at Portugal’s Farense, where he played 51 games, scoring 6 goals in the process. In addition, Muscat also played for Casa Pisa (61 appearances).

Muscat, 69 caps for Malta, is looking to return to the international fold after not being called up for the November international window.
