Steven Mahieu on the covid rules in public transport

  1. A bus is a closed-off space where people are constantly entering and leaving. If there’s one place where I would want to wear a facemask, it’s there.

  2. Dagelijks sterven nog 20 mensen aan COVID in ons land. Dit soort respectloze uitspraken is ronduit beschamend. De maatregelen zijn teruggedrongen met als doel de grootste risico’s nog steeds te beperken.

  3. new cases this week: 11.000 (belgium)

new deaths: 27 yesterday making 157 last week

rise in cases compared to last week: +27%

    active cases; 220.000

    sure, it’s all safe…

  4. I am very glad that its still mandatory to wear a mask on public transport. if there is any place where its easy to transmit and catch diseases its on a train/bus.

  5. as a GP these things can make me pretty mad. last 1,5 week cases have doubled again, not to mention the enormous spike in influenza (for every COVID+ person i test around 8-10 people positive for influenza at the moment). At the moment we have to work over 70 hours a week just to keep up with all the sick people, and people still think masks don’t serve a purpose. Retards.

  7. Managed to stay safe for 2 years without catching corona and I went everywhere with a mask. Went out for like 2-3 days after mask obligation was removed. And bammm got corona…

Yeah for all I care they keep the masks and stuff for another year or more…

  8. Let’s see how funny it is once he needs to use public transportation. You’ll want to wear it anyway even if you don’t have to. People are unrespectful disgusting pieces of shit.

  9. Just a little longer and we can all wear it again, again the same mistake as before, stopped using it to early.

  10. People act like covid is over. I work in the emergency/spoed section of a psychiatric hospital. I can’t tell you how many Corona lockdowns we had since the barometer went to yellow. And Everytime it is a new patient that gets admitted through ER (my section) gets tested, is positive for covid, refuses to wear a mask or stay in quarantine zone “bECaUsE cOrOnA iS oVeR” and every time it ends with a full lockdown of complete wing and at the very least one patient on Intensive care wing because covid spread like wildfire.

There are still a lot of covid cases, it is still dangerous and it can still push a hospital to the brink.

Government never said the pandemic was over, they only said they won’t force you to wear the masks anymore but strongly advise you keep doing it.

My girlfriend has an auto-immune disease. She has been admitted to intensive care 5 times in the past 9 months because of other people with covid who refused to follow the rules.

TLDR: if you think it is to much effort to wear a mask when you’re sick or in a closed space, wash your hands and keep you distance from peoples personal space..you can argue all you want, you can yell words like civil liberty, but at the end of the day..you’re just a selfish asshole who doesn’t care about other people’s health as long as you get to do whatever you want.

Maybe it is time to realise that with your rights also comes responsibility. You can’t demand the first without exercising the latter.

If it is too much for you to care about another person’s wellbeing other then yourself? Then do fuck yourself. I don’t want to see you in my hospital when you’re in trouble.

    Signed
A pissed off, tired, overworked, underpaid and under supported, angry emergency hospital worker

  11. Ik geef geen fuck of ik een masker moet dragen. Maar het is wel irritant dat ik het alleen moet dragen op de trein, letterlijk nergens anders in mijn dagelijks leven.
