Maybe the democrats should have made the case easier for undecided voters then? This doesn’t automatically absolve the Democrats of actually needed to do necessary campaign work, it shouldn’t be enough to just not be hitler.
History not repeating but definitely looking very similar to its past self. Many debate how the national socialist german workers party came to power through democratic elections. But most do agree that economic hardship (stemming from treaties at end of WWI) was one major reason. They were promised lower prices and better wages, then the way they went. They were also told minorities groups were the boogie men and were the root of all evil. And we know how all of that went down. Not saying that some historical human tragedies will repeat, but certainly we need to fight to prevent them.
