Writing in *The Dispatch*, [Michael McFaul](https://www.hoover.org/profiles/michael-mcfaul) asks why President Donald Trump appears to be emboldening China and undoing positive measures undertaken during his first term in office. He argues that by threatening Canada, Mexico, and Colombia with tariffs and suggesting the US will seize Greenland and the Panama Canal by force, Trump strains key alliances at a time when the US needs all the friends it can get to counter China. Further hampering US interests is the decision to freeze all foreign aid, something that invites China to further fill the void in the Global South. “If we are going to prevail against China and its junior partner, Russia, we must get serious about devising a grade strategy,” McFaul writes. “Alienating our allies, cutting aid, disrupting trade, abandoning our values, and fighting among ourselves is not that… The good news is that we are only entering the third week of Trump’s second term, so there is still plenty of time to correct some of these initial mistakes.”
The issue of freezing foreign aid continues to be a breaking news item, with [AFP reporting](https://sg.news.yahoo.com/rubio-asks-aid-groups-sabotaging-180350099.html) February 4th (the day this piece was published), “[Secretary of State] Rubio, on a Latin America tour, also said he was issuing waivers which would allow for “immediate” and “life-saving” aid to continue after President Donald Trump ordered a 90-day suspension on taking office. “I don’t know how much more clear we can be than that,” he told reporters in Costa Rica.”
I’ll be honest. I feel like Xi probably the most powerful and cunning leader in the world right now. People talk about Putin and Netanyahu but they are small fry in the grand scheme of things.
Trump is as vulnerable to Russian and Chinese disinformation campaigns as the average rural Gen Xer/Baby boomer it seems so they are clearly able to indirectly manipulate him (and maybe directly through assets in his inner circle?) into making poor geopolitical decisions relatively easily. It doesn’t bode well for the long term
$Trump coin.
That’s the entire reason he made it, so he can take money from foreign governments.
There’s no way he’s just accidentally bungling his way to giving Xi everything he ever desired. This plan is way too properly executed for Trump to be the brains behind it.

Because he’s owned
the new “cold war” was invented by the US for propaganda reasons. They can stop it by ending the antagonization Vs China. Just like the pre Obama years.
